Initiated into the real world!!!!

So I was parked in a proper space at a local shopping center. I went in for some dinner and when I came out, someone had backed into my just cleaned black 991. There were some surface scratches on the right side of the license plate recess and a small quarter sized paint scrape to the right of it. I'm hoping that the entire bumper does not have to be repainted. There was no dent at least.
The only bright light is I have a $50 deductible on my collision insurance, so whatever it takes to get it right...

At least you were not to blame. I backed into my son's scooter that he had left out. I was upset with him, but ultimately my fault or maybe Porsche's for not putting a #@*%ing backup camera on these cars. Scratched bumper = $718. Deductible $1000. Its minor but its going to get fixed! Paint guy said he would only apply color to repaired scratch area and clear coat entire bumper skin.

OK, I know not everyone is a fanatic about keeping their car free of scratches and dings or are the least bit concerned with dinging someone's parked car. Careless parking is their revenge for being forced to drive minivans or SUVs. Why do kids and old people both fling doors wide open without a care in the world? Why do people deliberately park two inches from my doors when I park at least a football field away from the nearest car? If there are a ton of empty spaces, I will park diagonally to the marked spaces to make sure no one gets near my doors. Despite desperate measures like this (or leaving a blow up friend in the seat) just this week two cars conspired to bracket my car making it nearly impossible to get out without the "love tap". I think I am going to start leaving little notes: hey, I know you drive a piece of crap and are angry but you're still an idiot!
So, the point is, don't park your car at all. And don't get me started on valet parking!

Lonnie, that's too bad! What's even more shameful about these situations are culprits fleeing the scene without leaving a note.... even an apology would help!

I'm sure the car will be back in its pristine condition pronto.

Now is there a forcefield type gadget that we can get our hands on?

I feel your pain. It is most likely somebody that probably does not drive a nice car either did not know they hit something or did not care.

Not everyone is responsible for their own actions.

Sorry to hear. There's no shortage of idiots out there. If it's just a scratch try products like scratchx.

I question this everyday... whether my car is a Corolla or a 911.. I still want it ding and scratch free.

Sorry to hear, Lonnie. I'm glad to read that you have a low deductible.

So sorry to hear this. It's extremely annoying when stuff like that happens. The sooner you get it fixed, they sooner you will feel better.

Sorry to hear about this. I feel your pain. I am so particular about where and how park. Always the and park in the outfield away from everyone and try and park on one side close to a curb, but it never fails; some @&$ in a POS always park close by just because.

I think it's an OCD a lot of us have!

It will be back to pristine condition in no time. Do you have a picture of the damage by any chance?

Crazy low deductible! That's the silver lining.

Crazy low deductible! That's the silver lining.

The damage would look so minimal from a picture and the scape along the lower contour line where the bumper meets the lower rubber piece wouldn't even show up. In person, it's just like seeing a thing of beauty and then your eyes fall on this area and it's like a knife is stuck into you...ugh.
Hopefully I will get it in this week. Fortunately my insurance co (USAA) has already made a reservation for me to get a rental and the paint shop is the one that Champion Mtrs uses (called Stuttgart International). It's suppose to do really perfect repairs.
The low deductible came about because before I got the 991, I heard of the premiums some people were paying for wheel insurance. It turned out that USAA would cover the wheels it I got the $50 collision deductible. The outcome was that it is costing me about $500 more per year over a $500 deductible policy.
