2014 Carrera (base) Question: PASM or Sport Chrono Pkg.
2014 Carrera (base) Question: PASM or Sport Chrono Pkg.
I thought I had my 2014 C2 Cpe. well-optioned and ordered. Change freeze point June 4th, expected delivery Sept 6th. But there is this nagging question in the back of my mind: Should I have ordered the Sports Chrono Pkg., instead of PASM. Thought I'd ask the opinion of forum members. Which one of the two options would be best for a base 991 with PDK, considering suspension comfort, sport modes, overall enjoyment and fun, etc., etc.
Thanks again for your input and suggestions.

You definitely have ordered correctly. I would get PASM before the sport Chrono. Additional sensors in the shocks means a better more adaptive ride, plus comfort if nice and soft where sport is a fair degree stiffer for when you need it. Sport Chrono will give you the engine mounts, launch control, and the added functionality of the PCM, however I think you will benefit from the better suspension more than the combination of those. Enjoy your new ride!
I'm just an old guy (66), so just tooling and drooling around town. No, wait, that's the other old guys drooling over my Pcar.
But anyway, no racing, tracking etc. Maybe a little "spirited" driving out on the Las Vegas desert highways every once in a while.

I have spasm and the sport chrono on my 2013 c4s (have to update my photo) - I don't drive without the sport button on, period, it's that much better. The throttle just seems so much more lively (i found the sport setting to be too twitchy in my 997 turbo). If you get the sport exhaust system as well, the combination of sport mode plus the burbles, pops and growls coming from the exhaust is amazingly entertaining.
I don't use the sport suspension button nearly as much as the other two - the normal ride is pretty firm.
So I recommend sport chrono and sport exhaust before pasm (sport or not).

Absolutely!! The must have option, IMO.
Here are the "mechanical" options I ordered:
PDK
Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM)
Power Steering Plus
Sport Exhaust System
20” SportTechno Wheel
Multi-function Steering Wheel

I have a base 911 (991) and went with the Sport Chrono Package over PASM. I enjoy having the sport plus button (really opens everything up, changes the gearshift points and ratios, and firms the already firm suspension.) If you're not planning on sporty or aggressive driving, PASM would soften out your ride. Let's put it this way, you can't go wrong with either, both, or neither! Enjoy your purchase!

PASM is the better choice but the ideal choice is both . In fact it's the only choice that would erase doubt.

I don't have PASM, and I *think* I feel that the sport button does firm up the body roll, but I was under the impression that the standard suspension is just struts and springs. No active management of any sort.
Here is my thinking on the new 2014 C2. My goal is to option-out the "perfect" C2 for my wants and needs. I'm much older now and simply do not need, or really want, another C2S. However, I fully realize that there is a "monetary ceiling" with the C2 options, after which it would be foolish not to get the C2S. Since I'm good with all the other options on my 2014 C2 Build Sheet, getting both the PASM and Sports Chrono would "crack" the C2 ceiling. So I decided to pick just one, which at this time is PASM.
But I still have time to do more research and change it, if need be.
Thanks again!
