Touchless car wash and cabs

Winter is coming and can't spend the time to wash and rinse in the driveway.

Has anyone gone through the modern touchless car washes. ie car on a conveyer not a track, or it sits still while jets move around car.

Concern is for pressure to cab roof

Not sure where you are in Toronto, but a lot of office buildings and underground garages have wash services in them. Better then an automated wash.

I used the touchless wash once. It is horrible... not only it did not clean well, I think may have chipped the paint a little.
I think Hand wash place is probably your best bet. I usually bring my own drying towel when I go to the handwash place.

I would be more concerned with the soap and wax that penetrate the canvas top. That said, I've seen some hand carwashes that are worse than automatic ones.

That track/conveyor can screw up your wheels, too... beware!

advise from a detailer:

-coin op wash to get heavy dirt, don't use brush just some foam and rinse

-Bring back to garage and use Optimum No Rinse wash detergent, 1 bucket full and 2 oz, 1 bucket clean water to rinse ( product says you don't need to rinse but he suggests it )

- leaf blow & micro fiber dry

- Will try tomorrow if it stops snowing

The foam at a lot of these coin ups is difficult to rinse off.

There are a few fully enclosed coin ups in the GTA, why not just take your bucket and wash materials there and do a full wash and dry then drive home. That way you also don't have to worry about your cab top.

Again, not sure were you are located in the GTA, but there is a huge one at Yonge and Steels.

I have a friend that lives in a condo, and just use his underground wash bay when I can, or do what I suggested above in the winter months. I drive 991 C4S all year round.

Stalker in Nobleton 20km N of airport.(you have the akra exhaust?)

I have a large heated garage , but I turn my water supply off during winter.

Your probably right about the soaps at the coin op, may just use the pressure wash to get large particles off.

Just tried the Optimum, works well, doesn't foam. Garage floor is wet , threw a fan on to dry it.

PS: my OCD over my first Pcar and first black car is creating a large carbon footprint
