HomeLink will NOT program!!!! Help please...

I am beyond aggravated at this point. I have 5 cars...2 exotics, my new 911 S, a BMW and a Ford family hauler. All of the cars have programmed to my garage door opener without major issues - some tougher than other, but eventually they all made it . The Porsche is another story. I have followed the instructions in both the owner's manual, the HomeLink site, and my dealer's instructions. All to no avail. My gates programmed without issue as they are not rolling code.

I have a Chamberlain LiftMaster. I can eventually get to the point that the lights blink and the LED flashes rapidly - both of which indicate success. (And that can take 20 minutes) However, when I attempt to go to the next step of programming for the rolling code, the next button press of the HomeLink flashes slowly again as is the programming never occurred. Any thought?

I have searched online and found nothing. Thanks very much in advance for any and all suggestions (other than "use the original remote instead").

I had a similar problem with the same opener. I had to try about 5 times to get it to work...eventually worked when I did the "clear the codes" process outlined in the Porsche manual, then repeating the rolling code approach.

It is definitely finicky.

Maybe I gave up too easily because mine would flash the lights but the buttons wouldn't operate any of the gates or garage doors. When I get home I'll try again and again until it works and if all else fails, will see what the dealer can do for me.

Did you then press the learn button on the opener and quickly press the Homelink button three times?

I only had a problem like this one time, and I reverted to the HomeLink website and those instructions worked. Since you've already been there, I don't know what to tell you.

I wonder if there's some limit to the number of devices you can pair with the LiftMaster? Seems unlikely, but, when grasping for straws....

Good luck, and post the resolution, please.

I found that I needed to get the remote VERY close to the spot on the bumper where the HomeLink transceiver is - like within 6".

Guys,
I just got done programming my new 2014 TTS Homelink to my Overhead Door rolling code opener. It was very easy. I followed these instructions from the Overhead Door website. You need to have the 911 key on Accessory.

Most rolling code openers operate and program the same way, so these instructions should work for most brand garage door openers.

Notes:
Step 1 clears the Homelink buttons in the 911. In Step 2, hold the remote control for the garage door a couple inches away from the 911 Homelink button you are programing. In Step 5, hold the 911 Homelink button in for 2 seconds each time you press it. You may want to unplug your Garage Door opener during steps 1 and 2 to avoid burning out the motor. Plug the opener back in before proceeding to Step 3.

>
5 Steps To Program Your HomeLink® System

Note: Some vehicles may require the ignition be turned on or the vehicle actually running to program the Homelink® transceiver.

To program a rolling code compatible Homelink® system, please follow these steps.

1. Press and hold the two outside buttons on the Homelink® system until the LED starts to blink, release buttons

2. Press and hold the desired Homelink® button and the transmit button on your rolling code transmitter at the same time until the Homelink® LED changes from a slow blink to a rapid blink. (Your Homelink® system is now programmed)

3. Locate the learn code button on your garage door opener. (These are located under the light cover or on the rear panel depending on model)

4. Press the learn code button on the garage door opener, a red LED will start to blink. (You will have 30 seconds to complete programming)

5. While the LED on the garage door opener is blinking, return to the vehicle and press the pre-programmed Homelink® button 4 times. (Or until the garage door operates).

I had hard time configuring door opener too. I tried for a while with Porsche's directions (pointing your clicker at the nose of the car), but that never worked. See if this works for you.

• Press Learn button on overhead opener in your garage. Learn light should blink.

• Press Home Link button in car within 30 seconds. Be sure to clear memory first according to instructions (pressing 1st and 3rd button simultaneously, I think)

• Overhead Learn light in garage should be steady.

• If steady, press Home Link button in car again. Learn light on overhead should go out.

• Repeat 2 more times and then test.

The process above worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you.

I made MANY attempts with my garage remote inside the car. My silver bullet taking remote outside the car and aiming towards the right bumper under the headlight where the transceiver is located. I was less than 10' away and it programmed IMMEDIATELY!

I never had to crack open the Porsche manual, thankfully. Programming the
TTS Homelink was way easier than my '12 C63 AMG and my '13 GT500

Well, between the 4-5 sets of directions given by everyone, I hope the OP can find something that works for him!!!

I gave up after 5-6 times, waited a week and tried again.
Worked from manual instructions the first time.
No idea what I was doing wrong.

You know what's really awful about this? I would guess that the vast majority of people who posted above are reasonably intelligent, many with college or advanced degrees. And yet, the process doesn't always just work. Why isn't it as simple as the WPS one-button wireless device setup with some network equipment? Seems like an opportunity, no?

I am at a loss. For some reason after I get the three flashes from the turn signals, the next press of the "just programmed" HomeLink button results is a slow blink..as if it had not been programmed.

I "press and hold the previously programmed HomeLink button" exactly as the instructions indicate I should. It should flash quickly and then go solid (since my opener is a rolling code)...all it does is blink slowly as if nothing has occurred at all. This is where I am getting stuck. What the heck???

You might have a defective HomeLink transmitter or sensor on the Porsche. It is not like you haven't done this before. I was scared to try to program mine today because of this thread, but I followed the directions I posted and it worked like a charm.
