Not the best day..

Was driving home today, stopped to pick my wife and as we were entering the freeway to get something to eat, a large stone got kicked up bouncing first on my hood then impacting my windshield, the crack was not bad for the first 30 seconds, but then ran the entire length from side to side. Now I lost my appetite but my wife still wanted food, drive thru here I come. Generally I do not like drinks in my car but we were close to home, get her food and yup, a large drink. We get going back toward the house and a wonderful lady in her SUV while chatting on her phone decided she needed my lane. I do appreciate the brakes of these cars but ended up with a large soda covering my dash and a few French fries to help absorb the liquid. Just hoping the garage does not collapse..
$980 for windshield and $280 for a detail, damn expensive drive home.

When it rains...

Did the drink end up in any of your vents?

Damn... these things come along in bundles. Hope you're back to normal soon.

Get her straightened out and re-do the same exact drive for the hell of it.

Only a small amount ended up in a vent, most along the front, I have already cleaned vacuumed and treated the leather. Ordered a new windshield for installation on Friday.

Sorry about the multiple mishaps. Well done for taking it in your stride.
I hope the stone didn't damage the hood too much. Did you have clear film? If so I hope it helped.

Tomorrow is another day. Hope its a nicer one.

I'm truly sad to hear your experience -- I would've been completely devastated! Hang in there - it'll be as good as new in no time and forgotten!!

I feel your pain. I've had to replace the windshields on both of my previous Porsches- a 987S and a 997.2 - just bad luck. $980 is not too bad for a 911 windshield; I had to pay quite a bit more here in Canada for my windshield.

Pour yourself a nice single malt- tomorrow is another day !

Sorry to hear about your misshaped day. Back in 1986, I had a Ferrari Testarossa and got a crack in the windshield that flew off the road. The windshield was $3,200.00 then. Fortunately I had glass replacement insurance with USAA which cost $5/yr!

Definitely a bad day

As far as food is concerned, I never eat anything in the car and whenever I pick up food, I get out of the car and put in in the frunk where I have an OEM plastic liner

Not being a smart@ss, just a friendly advice

I have been through 4 windshields in a year. Do not worry, I always had the job done at the dealership and the result is perfect. Safelite can supply and install 991 windshields too and are ~$100 cheaper than the dealership, but I would rather not take any risk.

Good luck and keep enjoying your beautiful car!

Ditto. I have this OEM frunk liner too for my 4S. Perfect fitting and put everything in it. Only drink allowed is my car is water via sports bottle (straw ). No food/no drink. That's what our Lexus gx is for
