991 crash.. two killed
It has been covered by a few threads and it is the first time I see what is left of the car. I feel very sad for the families, and even though we do not know the specifics of this accident, it reminds us of many others where excessive speed at the wrong time and wrong place resulted in a dramatic outcome. If you want to drive real fast, go to the track and wear your safety gear, period.
Whether you are a kid that lacks judgement or a movie star in a silver Porsche 550 spyder or a red Carrera GT, I feel no compassion and could never call them heroes or martyrs.
The tragedy is for those that they left behind.
R.I.P. Sean Edwards. Never mind the others.

I feel very sorry for both of them and the families. Sure they were driving way to fast, but there isn't anyone who hasn't pushed these cars beyond what might be considered "safe" by LEO. So ragging on them like many of the people did in the comments section of the original article seems pretty stupid IMO.
Has anything been released as to the cause of death? Impact or drowning or combo....

Do stupid things, get stupid results... Yes, I've driven 70mph in a 65mph zone on the freeway when hardly anyone was around. Yes, it is illegal, but is it stupid? No. Now, if I drive 70mph in heavy LA traffic and swerve in and out of traffic, that is stupid and I deserve to get into an accident and I'm the fool. The fool wouldn't be the person I hit if that is the case.
The issue is not about the Miami guys (we will know soon enough if it was the case) but about responsibility and lack of judgement.
Check this link and you will read about something that happened less than 2 miles from where I live last year. It happened that the 'kids' were driving at a totally unsafe speed (and I am talking physics, not some of the ludicrous LEO rules): http://www.ajc.com/news/news/ferarri...lpharet/nSmmd/ .
Nobody should ever suffer or die a stupid death of course, but I have no sympathy for the driver.
I am a big proponent of non-politically correct but DUI and nonsensical speed are not part of it. I think we have all made our point and it will probably not change each other's opinion, so leave it there.

I can say this "hello NJ Motorsports park!"
Go the track! Driving fast on the street isnt "fast" once you do a track day. I bet once the average Porsche owner does a track day they will have a new respect for what is really fast. Just my .02

Wow. I just read the article in your link. Giving an 18 year old a Ferrari is a recipe for disaster. What was the dad thinking??
MaxBoost is right on the money. Take it to the track. Play it smart.
A little spirited driving around an on-ramp or a quick romp in the mountains is not what we have been seeing lately. Instead, we are seeing 140mph on surface streets. People pretending they have super-skills and super-powers. Recklessness and immaturity.....
I feel sad for all those hurt by these incidents, and I pray for them and their families....I wish everyone a long and happy life... but what would happen if someone is out there making the freeway into Laguna Seca, and flips it into a crowd? What If my 4 month-old child were in the back of my car and this idiot hits me at 120.....he better kill me, is all I'm saying.
My advice, get an SCCA license and hit the track once a month. It gets it out of your system. NJMP/Pocono/VIR/Summit point have nice 3 day sessions. When I leave on Sunday, I am exhausted and don't want to even look at my race car until the next event!
And there are plenty of crashes that happen on track too. Power steering or oil on the racing line......but at least you hit a tire barrier and your harness and HANS keeps you safe. And everyone on track knows the risks and are not on their way to daycare to pick up their kids....
