New Targa pics - practically undisguised
Autocar posted a few spy shots of the new targa. The car looks good but I have a question. With the introduction of the glass roof on 991's what exactly is the point of a Targa? Sure more wind and light but is the experience a lot different? The question I ask is out of genuine interest as I have never owned a targa.

I don't understand why someone would buy a targa over a cab. Maybe those who had one 20 years ago would buy one to relive fond memories? Seems to me Porsche would find more profit in doing the speedster with the GT3 engine.
I'll reserve final judgment until I see one in the flesh, but the car looks weird to me. I don't really understand what niche this fills when you can order a coupe with the glass roof or a cab.

I've had several of the old style Targa's and the big benefit at the time was open roof but no wind on the back of your neck. When the first Cabriolet came out (1983 Model year) I ordered a cab then and have had several cabs since. The 991 Cab with the electrically activated windscreen is a better way to go.

You my friend have just dropped your pantaloons and have asked for your danglies to mauled by the cab guys!

Love it!
I had a 993 Targa before as I don't like the look of a closed soft top, that's why.
As to why we need a Targa? I don't know either, but someone will buy them. It is like asking why we need a 991turbo and a 991turboS release at the same time?
