i love seeing people driving there exotics in the elements, this old tired mentality of protecting the paint is out dated in my opinion. We all spend all this money (six figures) on premium cars but we cant afford frequent details? Rain, or snow, or salt should not affect the paint on a properly maintained modern car. When the weather clears have the car detailed and all should be fine. maybe if you keep your cars 20 years it can be a issue but in 3-5 years 99.9% wouldnt be able to tell after a good detail witch car saw rain and witch one didn't.

 

STALKER- did you do C B only front-end, or more? The road salt is the worst! Even high-pressure rinse won't get it off. How long have you gone with salt on the body before washing?

2. Front fenders
3. Front bumper
4. Headlights
5. Area in front on the sunroof and down the front pillars
6. Rocker panels under the doors
7. Rear fenders were redone and go much higher up then OEM
8. The Rear bumper is done on the bottom trailing edge(a great idea for everyone to do there).

I knew I was going to drive the car in winter, plus it sees a good amount of track duty….so I CBed areas that I though would take the most abuse.


I don't wash my cars often in winter..never had an issue with the salt not coming off.
The car also has a complete coating of CQquartz finest. Adds a nice layer of protection. I used Opticoat in the past before with good results.

 

I wish I could allow my car to look like that! My OCD will not allow it. You at least get to enjoy the car. thanks for the pics!

 

Agree with all the posts about how the 991 handles phenomenally in the snow with proper snow tires. I took mine out on Friday afternoon after some of the 12" of snow we got on Long Island was plowed, and the car handled perfectly. Much better, in fact, than my wife's 4WD QX56 with regular all-season tires.

Out driving in -10 degrees today. Loving heated steering wheel and seats. Stop at bank get back in and ... nothing. Well, it turns over but doesn't catch. I think the gas froze. Will be take to dealership tomorrow

With the windchill was -35C in Toronto today, took a bit to start her in the morning but after that it was OK, was running all over town today.

I wish I had the heated steering wheel, would have been nice.

 

Had not been an issue before or with other cars. Not sure why. Just picked it up from dealership today because of a PADM fault.

Yes, heated steering wheel is good. Sometimes I rest my, uh... nevermind.

 

Mine looks just the same right now. I've been driving around in the slop in Denver for the last few days. My C4S on Sottozeros is frickin' incredible in the snow. Hard to say whether it's better or worse than my prior S5 Cab on winter tires. However, if anyone has any concerns at all about whether a C4 makes a good winter car, please set them aside. One other tidbit: the rear window defroster works ridiculously well. I came out of the gym to an ice covered rear window, and by the time I was 90 seconds from startup I could see out the back.
