Fabspeed Headers + PSE + Fabspeed Maxflo Mufflers

Just ordered the Fabspeed Headers (w/ 200 cell cats) and the Maxflo Mufflers. And I already have PSE. I haven't seen anyone with this setup yet.. How do you guys think it will sound?

p.s. I have the Skarkwerks bypass pipes and I hate it.. no control over the volume.. heck pse off is louder than pse on..

Different car, but I'm running that setup and it sounds amazing! Gt3 like with the valves open and subtle with them closed (below 4k RPMs). I think you will be very pleased with the results.

Sounds like a great combo, Michael. Originally, that was my plan... to combine by factory PSE with a set of Fabspeed Sport Headers. I was told that the headers wouldn't make a huge difference in sound levels without changing the actual PSE mid-muffler.

Hence, I went ahead and picked up a CargraphicTS x-pipe and plan on adding a set of either Fabspeed's or Cargraphic's sport headers soon, too. I'll have comparison clips up for everyone.

One question: why did you go for the maxflo mufflers? I'm pretty sure I'm missing something here, but it looks like they just replace our factory side mufflers. As it is, the PSE-on valve setting bypasses these side mufflers, right? If so, this will only affect your PSE-off sound levels.

Are you the one that just bought the CG xpipe from kitw?

i went for the headers for a little more power for my butt dyno haha.
also went for the maxflo mufflers cus i heard it in person and when pse is off it's not louder but better sounding than the stock mufflers.

Yup! Should be here by Wednesday.

Regarding the headers, I definitely understand. The only reason I'm after headers is to get a higher-pitched exhaust note, similar to the GT3. Like White Rock stated above, you'll get that note with the Fabspeed Sports headers. I just wanted to change my mufflers, too.

And I guess that makes sense about the Maxflo side mufflers.

I'm curious to hear what your car sounds like with the headers installed and PSE on. If it isn't too much trouble, can you get some before/after sound clips on the same street/area of the setup?

Since I am waiting to jump into a turbo, I am planning on modding the c2s. Very interested on your results and impressions.

Strange you felt that way about sharkwerks. I just installed the pipes on my 991 4S and I love the sound. My car has PSE and it's louder with it on.

I must be missing something here: how can the car be louder when PSE is *on* if the entire side muffler/pipe is essentially bypassed?

Great! I don't mind at all. In fact, I don't know how this will affect the PSE-on position. I'm hoping to get some clarification on that soon.

Not sure if the side mufflers are bypassed, if you have a lift put the car up and you will see the actuators on the center muffler. Do non-PSE cars have side and center, I believe they do, just a different exhaust I believe.

PSE cars have both, yes. From what I remember reading:

PSE-OFF results in the exhaust being routed into the main center muffler, and then to the two side mufflers.

PSE-ON results in the exhaust being routed into the main center muffler, and then directly out through the tips (bypassing the side mufflers).

I may be wrong, but I'm hoping someone can clear that up. If that's the way PSE works, then any modification to the side mufflers would only result in a change in tone when PSE is off.

While I dont have PSE on my 991 (stock car), my 981 and Cayenne did. That along with the Fabspeed video tells me that when activating PSE, exhaust is allowed to pass directly from the center muffler to the inside tailpipes. The flow from the outside tailpipes that is fed by the side and then center mufflers does not change at all.

This may also validate the OP's comments about the bypass pipe, since all the exhaust is routed through the (straight for the lack of a better term, no muffler) pipes after the center when PSE is off. Took me a little to get my head around it, but it makes sense now. Lesson learned for those with PSE.

I am very happy with my Sharkwerks center x-pipe, enough so that Im glad I didnt spend the $$$ on PSE had I ordered the car.
