Is buying a 6MT a mistake?
Not to me. Ordered a MT in my BS, and if I trade it for a Targa, I'll order a MT in it as well. Get them while you can.
Although, I see you're in Houston. DD commuter - then, maybe you want a PDK? I live very close to the middle of nowhere, so not an issue for me.
I also realize many people can't or don't want to drive a manual, but I think at some point there will be so few that the value equation make actually favor a manual. Not that most any car, especially these, are ever investments.

Supply & demand. Just because there is a declining supply of manual transmission cars doesn't mean there is a greater demand than supply or that rarity will enhance resale value. On the contrary, the steady decline will eventually make them have lower resale value due to how limited the market is for them. Buy what you enjoy driving and don't worry about resale value. If you only care about resale value, buy a Prius.
Well, now I'm confused! So, would it be a mistake or not. Will only have this car for about 9 months until my GT3 gets in.... I'm worried it won't sell quickly when my new car comes in.

It's a 7MT if it's a 991, I think that's the meaning. In any case, I;m sure you'll enjoy it - no idea about resale, though. I intend to have mine well past the point that MT isn't offered anymore, so it's a different equation for me.
Personally, I'd wait it out and not bother getting anything in the meanwhile. I know its strange but there's something satisfying about the wait and anticipation.
As we know on resale one is always going to take a hit...MT or PDK. The issue is more about the wait till you get the GT3. If you must have something now, as sanibel states, get whichever you like the best. I really don't think it'll matter much whether it's a MT or PDK.

Doh! Sorry... All my previous Porsches have been 6!!
No worries. The flu got me cranky with my first response. Apologies.
Back to your issue. If your scud can keep you entertained till the 991 GT3 arrives I really would just stay put. Another consideration should be the rumored 991 facelift. If the 991.2 models are confirmed for 2015 model year it will have an effect on current 991 resale values.

A simple fact: today's 991 market for MT is smaller than for PDK. One hand an MT used car will be harder to find and yours could be of special interest. On the other hand the market for MTs is smaller than for PDK.
