But that 30 miles can take 4 hours! And the local government is likely to outlaw your car,

Glad to hear everyone is OK. Sorry that it happened but maybe it is a sign to get rid of all minivans.

Seriously! I need spring badly - we are having a ROUGH winter here in SE MI. Last April my neighbors tree fell on my garage during a heavy rain/wind storm. Thankfully it's built 1952 tough and damage wasnt bad. Good news is the garage got an entire rehab including a new slab. Man cave = done.

If I lived on the East Coast I couldn't even think of buying a nice car ($100K +) If it's not the winters it's the constant threat of rain during the summer. Living in Nor Cal after April you can bet your last dollar you won't a drop of rain until at least November. This year we got our first real rain last night. I am just too meticulous about my cars and enjoy driving them whenever to be constantly looking at the weather to determine if I can drive my car.

This weather has been pretty bad for many people. I hate to see all that property damage you incurred but I'm glad that no humans or animals or birds were hurt.

Ok. One of my favorite destinations. My wife and I were just there last summer and we used to walk around and dine when we were. courting in the 80s.

Strangely enough after my bird feeders were destroyed by the Ash tree hit, my deck became a birdie wonderland. They hang out in the fallen branches and snack on the 20 pounds of spilled seed and suet.

Really? The threat of rain keeps you from driving your car? Perhaps the weather is not the issue.

inspections under my car were A-OK. That material they use under the car is sooo much better with scrapes than the 997. Another piece of the redesign they paid a lot of attention to.

Hope you have better luck with storm damage than I did! We had a 150 year old tree hit the house during Sandy and it cost me big. We needed a new roof -$30k. And it took out the landscaping front steps and made a hole in the driveway. But, that was not the big problem. It was the one thing that leads to another that really cost. When the roof was off we discovered the upstairs heating and AC needed to be replaced and as long as we were replacing one compressor we might as well change the downstairs compressor as well - we had replaced the heating system the year before when the basement flooded because of the hurricane if the year before. Well that was another $25k. And before we redid the landscaping, we should paint the house-lest it get trampled by the painters. Another $10k. And if we were fixing the driveway, we should replace the garage floor and doors (it did need it and my baby lives in there) and we should lower the apron so I would not hit the front splitter when getting out in the morning and repave and...another $20k. And we never want to go 2+ weeks without power again so that was $12k for a generator.

And then my wife decided we need a new kitchen - the crew comes next week - $150k. And we still have not done the landscaping.

One thing leads to another!
