The waiting stops...

So like many others, after lurking for a few months, I finally took delivery of my C4S last weekend. Luckily, it was the one weekend with clear weather in between all the snow storms. This is my first true sports car so I'm ecstatic. The handling is simply just amazing. Makes me think about that movie Stallone was in as a F1 racer and picking up quarters with his tires...lol That's how precise the handling feels. Haven't had much time since due to more snow this week.

Now comes some of the *****ing. I have rattles and creaks coming from the driver door and the sunroof. The door, it seems like one of the hinges didnt latch on properly as I can pry the panel off a bit at the corner so hopefully that is a simple fix. The sunroof, I opted not to get the glass version because I wanted a white roof, but it seems flimsier than I would have expected. If I were to do it over, I probably would opt out of the sunroof. Debating whether I should have them start messing with the sunroof or just deal with it. On the highway and smooth roads, the sounds dont occur, but on the bumpy city local streets, its like having a different sound sound system. Very disappointed to have to deal with this on a car I took delivery of with 15 miles on it. The 14 way seats are awesome, I didnt even need to do much adjustment and it just fits like a glove. I got the front and rear parking assist. This feature is a joke coming from a bimmer. I was expecting at least a rear camera view, but it just has the color coded radar graphics, which seems so primitive on a 100+k vehicle. Maybe I didn't order the option for the camera, who knows. The Bose system, at first sounded like crap when its picking up the non HD radio signal, but when I hooked it up to my iphone as the source, it was acceptable.

BTW...I have the multi-function steering wheel, anyone know if there is a way to skip to the next track from the steering wheel

And for service on the creaks/rattle, what everyone's opinion on going to another dealer than the one I purchased from given that its a brand new car? Or does it not matter?

And here's some crappy phone pics I took. Now the wait for good weather and clear roads begins...

Congratulations... love the Sport Techno wheels and the Sport Design front bumper. Looks great.

I don't think it's a problem if you go to another dealer.

First of all congrats on the car. It looks real good and the painted trim is a nice attention to detail (psst: clear side marker.s.. quick! will be a better fit with the white car).

On the rattle and creaks, I noticed that the issue was more pronounced under big temperature changes, i.e. starting from a very cold car in the winter and turning the heat fully on or the opposite during the summer (not sure if this makes sense or not). This being said, one of the beauty of Porsches is that their assembly systems are very simple and straightforward. Your dealership can easily remove the trim check/replace/install proper clips and reassemble. From my experience they are also willing to go on multiple test drives to locate and identify rattles and creaks that annoy you (other brands have a tendency to dismiss those issues).
Surprisingly (cheaper) high end Audi's seem to have a better fit and finish from that perspective, but in defense of the 991, the firmer suspension does not help. You can add more sealant, sound absorbing materials, thicker trim but then you start increasing the weight of the car and the lightness of the 991 is one of its strengths.

As far as electronics is concerned, you are spot on. Porsche is 10 years behind industry leaders. When will they pick stuff in the VAG group bin and use some of the very good Audi stuff that is already out there...

In brief, I would strongly advise to go to a dealer and ***** (in a polite and constructive manner) about what you are unhappy with. You will not get another car but they should be very receptive and help you. It does not care if it is the one who you purchased the car from. They will charge PNA for after sale/warranty service (so somehow they should be happy that you bring them business that is guaranteed to be paid by PNA).

Congrats, she's a beauty.

These cars are amazing but not perfect. The rattles are small issues that other people have had and fixed. You can take it to any dealer to get it fixed.

You can program the diamond shaped button to seek the next station.

Enjoy it and tell us a bit more about options and the interior.

No option for camera yet on the c2s and c4s.. Just the sensors like them or not.. I've been investigating backup cams, there is at least one that sounds like it integrates reasonably well with the PCM electronics..

What I've found with the Bose is that you need to turn on the surround In the settings otherwise it all sounds incredibly flat.. With surround on even XM can sound passable..

There are lots of threads about the sunroofs. Usually I believe it is a cable that is rattling around and can be resolved by the dealer fairly easily..

You can do warranty work at any dealer..

If you love the car and are going to keep the car for a while, the first thing I'd do is wrap it to protect from rocks.

Congratulations! Beautiful Car! I too had the sunroof rattle. Lived with it because I didn't want my dealer taking apart my brand new $100K+ Car. This thread ended up helping me out: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...le-free-2.html

I never did use the super glue fix, but I did get the dry lubricant and lightly torqued the few screws at the front of the sunroof. Happy to say I've been rattle free ever since.

Hope this helps . . . Enjoy your new car.

Rattles and creaks would likely settle down with the passage of time.

Congrats on acquiring awesome car!!

Congrats! The door piece near the hinge always seems to come loose. If you have damaged it yet from closing the door on it when it was out of place, secure it back into place and use a little clear sealant on the edges. That will solve that rattle.
I have never opted for a sunroof because A- I never liked it open (too much noise and it's too damn hot in Fla), and 2- always afraid of the chances of rattling, especially with all the suspension options.

Very nice! Makes me wish I had opted for the Sport Design front bumper! Also like the painted trim. Have you taken her out in the snow yet? If you haven't, and want to get a feel for just how great the C4 handles in slippery conditions, find a nice big parking-lot and turn off traction controls.... Having done this just recently myself with my '14 C4S (I really wanted to "safely" get a feel for the handling limitations of the 4 without finding out the hard way on a road somewhere) it is incredible!

Have fun!

My experience has been quite the reverse. No problems of ANY kind for the first several thousand miles. Now something on the right rattles when the subwoofer is engaged on certain frequencies (and yes, it is turned even lower than 0 in an attempt to stop the rattle), the right window randomly doesn't go all the way back up (and yes, I have tried resetting it), there is a random noise from behind me on the left, and my back left shock feels like it is going dead. I am waiting till my annual oil change next month to have these checked out.

OP, you will love it despite these foibles.

First, congratulations and drive it in good health! Second, SM_ATL is totally correct about the electronics - Porsche is way behind. I have a friend with an relatively new Audi S4 and the electronics make those in my '12 C2S seem pathetic. Even the electronics in my newer 3 series BMW are generally much better. The phone and voice control integration of Porsche is particularly cumbersome. That is a big disappointment as it was a big part of my decision to get the multifunction steering wheel instead of one of the others.

My car has rattles and has from the first day. And when I play a song with strong base - Led Zeppelin's "In The Evening", for example, the vibration from the speakers translates into a buzz in the door that makes it sound like my door is an iPhone on vibrate. When it is cold like this, the leather makes all kinds of sounds - those will improve once spring arrives - but the bone jarring roads around here can turn anything into a rattle trap so don't expect too much improvement with time.
And, you will be happy you got the sun roof once the weather turns and you want to go cruising up the Thruway at speeds with your windows open and the concussive cabin buffeting begins - popping open the sun roof is a big help with that.

Am I looking to sell mine? Not on your life. Would I buy another? Absolutely! I wish that their QC was better. But the car is just so much fun to drive and the line of the coupe is just so stunning. Get the revs up and the windows down and between the engine noise and the buffeting - you won't even notice the rattles!

Congrats, car looks phenomenal! Great comments above, I would concur that the rattles are definitely worse in the cold weather, I'd wait until things warm up before I go to the dealer to have them check it out.
