Figured out the tow hook

Had a perfect morning planned, made a coffee fired up the car and figured a -15 C dry day would be perfect start as I hadn't gone for a drive in over a month.

Well I guess I didn't compensate for the drifting snow at the end of the driveway Stuck and she wouldn't move at all, couple of neighbours came to help, but couldn't get her rocking.

In to the manual, screwed in the tow hook. Chained her up to the Avalanche. My neighbour who stores his GTS seemed shocked that I was attempting it, but it worked perfect. Only needed a little pull to get out.

Back in the house to make another coffee and off I went. Man have I missed driving this car.

Great story! I hope to never have to use the hook, but now at least I know that I have little to worry about!

I am not as far north as you are, and we have had a tough Winter here in PA - but i actually love getting out into the snow in my C4S. But I don't attempt deep stuff. I am more worried about bottoming-out / clearance than traction. On hard-packed or slushy stuff I've found that the 4 actually handles much better in slippery conditions than my other cars, including a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland (uh, but the clearance on that thing when raised is awesome! ).

Looks like you have a winter wheel / snow tire package on? What tires? I am using Michelin Alpin on a set of OE Classic 20's. Works beautifully!

Have fun!

Dang! Back in the garage then?
No worries about the tow hook. That's what it is made for...
Used it already, absolutely no issue

I'm on perilli's with after market rims, they have been great so far.It was my own stupidity that created the problem. I was so excited to get her out of the garage I guess.

As an FYI for everyone, the rear tow hook attachment is under the license plate.

Is that a Carrera or Carrera S? Just wondering if you have the limited Slip Differential since it appears you were spinning just one wheel.

That has an LSD standard, right? That's disappointing it didn't help more, but glad you found out close to home rather than the middle of nowhere!
