Clear bra installed
Clear bra installed
Got my C2S last Valentine's Day and was looking to get clear bra installed. Did some searching in this forum so I shot Glistening Perfection an email. No reply (until this day).
So I tried Yelping and found a place near me, Clear Bra Pro in Cerritos. Emailed them and they got back to me promptly. I later talked to Peter over the phone, and decided on the XPEL with full frontal coverage + side mirrors, at $1,350. He agreed to do the headlights as an added bonus.
Peter came to my house to do the job, so that was an extra added bonus. he started around 10 a.m., and was done by 5 p.m. Yes, it was quite long, but I didn't mind it, because all that time was spent for attention to every little single detail.
All the edges were wrapped around, not cut off, and the dust specks that somehow got in were cleared off. He also screwed off the Porsche emblem before attaching the bonnet piece.
All in all, I am extremely satisfied with Peter's meticulous work. Here are some pics...

No, he didn't take the bumper off, as the pre-cut piece didn't require you to do so.
Clean job. I may consider doing this soon. Is there a difference in thickness between the two brands? I wonder if they protect against small stones and other debris, especially on the track.
I asked Peter the same question, because XPEL offers better protection, so I thought it would be thicker or something. Peter said they are actually pretty much the same thickness, but 3M's technology is old school, compared to XPEL, which doesn't yellow and self-heals (to a certain extent).

Looks like you got a great job!Christophosphorus.. I think you'll get the kind of protection you are looking for from the top films being used.. Probably want to look at clearplex also for your windshield.. I'm constantly getting strafed on the OC fwys behind uncovered dump trucks..
Just know there is a difference between the pre-cuts and custom wraps that wasn't immediately obvious when I first started looking at getting a clear bra.. A custom wrap job is much more labor intensive (and expensive) and you do have to remove bumpers and headlights so that you don't see the edges of the film. Not saying that pre-cuts are bad.. I think they are probably more cost effective for the protection you get.. I also think it depends on the color of the car as well.. I can't see a pre-cut on a white car, but on a dark car it stands out (IMHO). But with a really good custom wrap it is really difficult to even tell that it has been applied where as a precut you can see pretty easily.
I just make this distinction because when in many of the threads on the forums the cost's are thrown around and you end up with apple and orange comparisons in terms of cost. I've also seen a couple of outsourced "dealer" jobs that were just dreadful.. Also of importance are the prepwork and paint correction. If you just wash the car and throw the film on it's cheaper but.....
And there are subtle differences between film brands that high end installers who understand the differences will install one vs the other..I think unless you do it for a living or have had it done on many cars it's probably difficult to say which is the right film for the right application.
One of the major issues is how transparent the film looks, and that depends on the color of your car. I think right now two of the preferred films are are XPEL and Suntek and some can be stretched better to help get rid of of that orange peel that can kinda show up on a high luster surface on a dark car.. Different for lighter colors..
My suggestion is find some a well recommended installer, and get their opinion (and the guys doing custom wraps and are good aren't cheap but you do get what you pay for) based on your car with it's current color and paint condition.
I'm pretty sure Moe From GP will likely chime in here. And if you are in socal he's one of the go to guys in so cal for a custom wrap..

My apologies to the OP for not getting back to you sooner. It was quite a busy weekend for us at work and we were just getting caught up. It looks like you found the right guy and he performed a satisfactory job. Appreciate you thinking of us first. Perhaps I can make it up to you when it comes time to give her a proper spa treatment

Yep. Bi-xenon in black inc. PDLS = $712
Thanks! I was lucky enough to get all the options exactly as I wanted (yes, including the wheels).
