Cayman S video review from a 911 guy
Firstly, I'm glad that there's positive movement on your 991S issues.
The review on the Cayman S is so informative and very well put together. Thank you.
Btw, with all the trouble you've been subjected to I cannot understand why a dealer would not at least offer you a clean loaner. Just silly!

As unfortunate as your 991 saga is, the bright side is that you get to drive a lot of different model Porsches. And, we get the benefit of hearing your take on the different models. Another great vid. When are they loaning you a GT3 to drive - oh, wait a minute, that model has its own issues . . . .
Great Review!
"I guess its like making out with your girlfriends sister. A lot of its the same but there's enough differences there to make it exciting."
I hope you're not speaking from experience!

There must be something about your Fairfield, CT area with the regard to the Cayman sales. According to Panorama, January sales for the US were 280 for the US. It is lower than the Boxster and the 911 (320 and 792) but if you add the Boxster / Cayman sales together, it's close to the 911. I think you're spot on with your open ****pit vs closed ****pit comment!! Some guys that might want a Cayman may find their wives want the convertible and that's they way they can get their Porsche.
Glad your 991 issue is being resolved. My dealer still hasn't figured out the same window issue you have- amazing!

PS Nice area you live and drive in!!

I find it hard to interpret the professionalism of the salesman's comment . I wonder if he says that to the guy who buys a Cayman from him upon delivery.
For starters the 2014 Cayman is a new car so if it had not been selling well in the past it may have been because there was NO Cayman produced in MY 2013 and even in 2012 cayman shoppers were anticipating a redesign .
Also keep in mind that the "all 911" is tremendous . It includes everything from a C4 to a Turbo to a Cab and might even include the halted Gt3 . in short the 911 variety (14 models) is competing against 2 Boxsters and 2 Cayman cars =4 models . And it's still close !!!
There are three things which I found intersting though.
1) 911 sales have dropped significantly since last year .
2) Cayenne sales are HUGE
3) Panamera sales are pitiful

All 2012 911-8,528 compared to 2013 numbers of 10,442, a healthy increase. January may have been weather driven.
All 2012 Cayman/Boxster 3,356 compared to 2013 numbers of 7953, a very healthy increase probably due to the new Boxster design.

The reason why the Panorama doesn't sell, is because you can get an BMW M5, Audi RS7, or Mercedes E63AMG which performs better than the Panorama Turbo, looks better, and will save you 40k.
Glad to see you are seeing progress with the 991 and good review of the Cayman S (finally a review by someone who actually talks about the car and is not going sideways around the track
). The Cayman is a real Porsche and snobs who call it the 'poor man's Porsche' do not deserve any attention.
Regarding the poor sales of the Cayman, the GTS may move it in another direction. Even better looks, more power, better value for money.
