PCM screen extremely hot..

Folks,
After a 30 minute drive, does your PCM screen feel warm to the touch or is it EXTREMELY hot?

If this is the norm, I'll save myself a trip to the dealership.

Thanks

Hot-hot. I couldn't leave the back of my hand on it more than 3 seconds.
I had never taken notice, but the wife almost burnt her little paw adjusting some settings.

Will take it for a long spin at night, but this was far beyond the normal warmth from the sun.

I don't have a 991, but have never noticed it being hot on my 997.2.

I've never noticed mine getting hot at all. Definitely get that checked out, and hope nothing is wrong with the PCM's electrical system.

Can't tell where you are located, but if you are in a cold climate, and had the heat on high but with the directional vents closed or partially-closed, is it possible the heat was "backing-up" behind the dash and causing the PCM to heat up? Sounds far-fetched, I know, but something about your comments reminded me of this- I noticed in an M3 that when I had all the vents shut but the heat on full I was getting hotter than normal dash surfaces...... weird but true. I don't think there were any "leaks" in the hosing, but who knows?

Good luck!

Located in a warm climate.
AC was set at 70.
No direct sun on the PCM screen and the cabin was cool.

Please don't make me go back there.
I'll take the potential flames shooting out the dash...

You have a point, if it breaks out in flames or smoke.. there's no questioning it..

Assuming it is out of the normal, and you haven't had any PCM functions fail just yet.. It might be some kind of vent blockage inside the PCM. Not sure if there is a fan in it, but there are vents in the side, so who knows maybe they got covered up installation etc..

Unfortunately a trip to the dealer is in your future..
