I've heard Bose sound systems in various cars and never liked them to be honest. And not only in cars... even at home they sound rubbish.
The Bose system is not worth the money in any Porsche. Get the Burmester or just don't upgrade and listen to the exhaust note...

Could be... Who knows!

Still think it's the prettiest car designed in this century so far. Especially the spider with its roof down. And one of the best sounding cars as well....

I agree the Bose needs all the help it can get. To make mine tolerable I went in a completely different direction than most of you.

I searched a lot of Bose posts on Porsche sites and many suggested turning the surround sound OFF and tick the linear box in the options menu. Also turn off audio pilot. I set the base at +2 and treble at +1.

It made a substantial difference in the sonic quality. The highs and midrange seem much better defined and the bass less muddy. Your choice of source material may also make a difference. I listen to CDs mostly and it definitely improved the listening experience.

Give it a try, it may or may not work for. By the way, I'm checking the Burmester box on my next Porsche.

The best source is actually a CD or lossless media on an SD card. I stream mostly on Spotify and you will find this source acceptable versus the Sat radio music which is highly compressed.

I am looking forward to the day Spotify has an option to stream HD audio (lossless encoding).

I did order the Burmester for the Boxster S I custom ordered and did listen to it before I decided on the 911. Sound is definitely better and worth the extra money if you are into this kind of thing.

Definitely agree on burmester, but the Bose isn't as bad as everyone thinks.. Porsche does a terrible disservice by configuring so terribly by default.. I've yet to get in someone's porsche who said it was terrible and then after showing them the settings they they didn't agree it was not terrible...

I would agree the base sounds similar to the Bose when incorrectly setup.. But the base lucks no matter what you do to it..

Stunning car!!

But don't blame Bose....Porsche sets the budget and Ok's the final project result.
Bose can make great sounding systems. (not audiophile systems, but good SQ for the less intense buyer)

Bose systems in general suck, this goes for home and auto. They have great marketing and are popular for the masses but the overall quality is poor. Swap out the speakers and amp if you want better sound, I don't think its worth messing with beyond that. Its not a big deal unless you have a cab.

Bose systems are the equivalent of Beats to headphones.

Good way to describe it. Overpriced systems made popular through tons of marketing dollars.

Amazing what can happen if you swap out the drivers though. I've done it in the 997. I suspect one could get similar results in a 991. "My Budget Audio Install" in the 997 forum.

Maybe I can't find the right sub menu, but the Bose in my new 2014 C2 only has Bass, Treble and Loudness as options. No Surround. Am I missing it somewhere?

I was really underwhelmed too.

stereo talk is nice, however I told my wife I prefer the song I hear when I put my foot into it. I rarely get above 5.5k rpm but the music getting there is beautiful.

Oh and love the blue.

While each source is selected press options.. There you will find a check for surround and linear.. As well as default base and tone.. You must set this for each source...

It will make a difference.. Not saying it will be audiophile but much better
