OP, congrats on the new car! And thanks for the quite verbose write-up on the Corvette experience. Like yourself, I had a C6 (and a C5 Z06 and a couple of C4s...) and it was a very competent car, but like you wrote, it's not something that you want to just jump in and go for a drive to nowhere. Not if you've been in a Porsche and know what you're missing.

I also considered the C7, but unlike yourself, I couldn't get past the cosmetics of the thing. And buying a first year GM car is probably still not a good idea.

I also considered the Cayman, but for me the 911 was a better fit. But the Cayman/Boxster is an incredible car, you are right about that. Even after reading all of your posts in this thread, I'm still confused why, for something that you loved so much, you sold it.

I think that steering wheel is gorgeous, and I hate it that you don't like it. I'm not sure why your wedding ring is "clanking" on the CF. If you keep your hands at 10 & 2 (like you should), then it will be the rare exception on a very sharp turn that your hands should be on the CF. Try to live with it for a while if you can. Don't shuffle steer.

These are bold colors but this combo ages well. We have a classic (don't know year) 911 in our neighborhood which is just a bit lighter with the full red interior and it still is a looker. I personally would like an all carbon wheel, I am sure that sounds strange but the carbon on the 991 looks superb. Fits the car.

Enjoy your new Superman or is it closer to Spider-Man ? Love the combo.
