I've made 20 trips from Fort Lauderdale and from Sanibel to Woodstock, VT - always in an SUV and always with multiple pets - and I can say unequivocally that I will never do it again! Two-and-a-half days of doldrums and overnighting in lousy, pet-friendly motels, eating on the run, etc. Life's too short to spend it that way. The only bright spot in all those 50 days on the road was listening to audio books and recordings of Car Talk.

Venice area is very nice since that town has tried to preserve "old Florida" feel.

No tracking for me so I doubt as Sizzle says I will need another radiator for the car. But maybe I will need one

I agree except for me it was about bonding with the car Main reason was to get it to FL and that will be it for me.

I am really surprised how comfortable the seats and seating position was. My body held up without any aches and pains...

Yes I was. I kept to 10 MPH or so above the speed limit and only bursted to 90 to get around traffic

I only went through 2 speed traps on the way down. One in Georgia south of Savannah and another one on 301 between Jacksonville and Gainesville.

One of the best features of the PCM is that it tells you the current speed limit. It registered faithfully when at the speed limit signs except in one case that I saw.

I have a better solution: I pay our pet sitter to drive our SUV and our pets up and she flies back. Repeat in reverse in the fall. We fly and save 2 days coming and 2 days going.
