991 Spacers - The Max without Chipping?

Hey
I realize this topic has been covered but with a quick scan I didn't find the info I was looking for..

I apologize if its mentioned somewhere on here.

But what is the max spacer I can do without looking over-the-top and also without causing harm to the paint on the car?

Are you looking for a performance advantage, or looks, or just what precisely? As little as 5mm gives a tracking advantage without pushing the wheels so far out as to risk rubbing, and of course the further out you go, the more crap you sling down the side of the car. I like 5mm since spacers are mostly unnecessary.

A lot of folks run 5mm in front and 7 in the rear. Most people say it is not enough to increase performance, and I am okay with the stock look, so don't use them myself.

No consumer or even track junkie has any way to truly measure any difference unless the driver is ultra consistent in lap times. A little wider stance should help performance, but you shouldn't be able to tell. As above, it's mainly aesthetics but most go to an extreme because they lack the ability to make a moderate choice. Bigger is better, right?

I have 7mm all the way around. The 15mm looked better in rear but I was afraid of rubbing at the track when the suspension was loaded up. If you are hit doing any track time go with the 15mm in read, it looked great.

I believe the thickest spacers I've seen anyone using around here, myself included, is 15mm in the rear. I run with 7mm on the front. I can tell you that with 15mm in the rear, on my 4S which has a wider rear wheel-well setup, I am at what I would call the "limit" using the stock wheel/tire combo. Going any wider than 15mm with this setup will definitely have the rear wheels/tires protruding from the rear fender-wells more than I would think anyone would want. I also believe a C2S would be better-suited with slightly thinner spacer, such as 12mm.

Also, regarding comments about rubbing concerns -- on my 4S I don't have S-PASM, just PASM, so my car is 10mm higher than those with S-PASM. But I don't think lowering another 10-15mm than stock PASM with my rear spacers will cause any rubbing issues. I have done some aggressive auto-x, and loading the rear I haven't recognized any signs of rubbing or other contact. I do see more black dust from the tires on the rear bumper edges just behind the tire, and on the underside noticeable rough areas where the road sand, pebbles, dirt are blasting it.... but nothing I would be concerned with on a DD.

How about this dope ride? I'll find out what spacers and springs he used. : )

Anyone have the secret order code for these special headrests? Porsche Exclusive? Pic from a Cayenne.
