991 MT odd noises

Over the past few months I've noticed an odd whining noise (faint but noticeable) from the rear of my '13 991S MT with approx 10k miles, and it appears to be getting worse.

The symptoms:

a) noise is very similar to the whining sound a bad wheel bearing makes.
b) the noise occurs at very low speed (5-10 mph); can't really tell if it's still present above ~10 mph due to the increased engine and road noise.
c) it occurs only under light acceleration in 1st gear (again, it's difficult to determine if it occurs in other gears due to noise levels) - not present under decel or coasting.
d) occurs only after the car has been driven a few miles and is basically warmed up.

Dealer agrees that the noise is unusual and is attempting to arrange for a test drive with someone from PNA.

Having never heard of a similar complaint concerning the 991 (or any model year 911 for that matter), everyone is scratching their heads at this moment. Curious if anyone here is knowledgable about the 991 transaxle and possible problems or failures.

I've begun to notice the same thing in my C4 and thought it might be a wheel bearing as well. However, for me, it has only occurred when I downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear at speeds around 30mph. Please let me know what your service advisor tells you. Thanks!
