I thought I'd share a great find. The stone guards on my white 2013 911 began turning yellow within eight months time. I learned that Porsche uses the 3M product which isn't all that good.
I found that the 3m guards not only turn yellow, but their texture is course and they stain quite easily.
Rob from Creative Car Crafts highly recommended the Xpel stone guards because they're "self-healing" and "optically clear," which makes them almost invisible.
Yes I agree the xpel guards much nicer than yellowing stock guards. I had mine changed when I did the xpel bumper film on my white C4 and they look nice.
It's very common for us to see this...cars only a few months old have stone guard turn yellow. Nice thing is, products like xpel ultimate are here to the rescue

The Expel guards come pre-cut and are actually thinner than the stock 3M stone-guards.
Rob shared an easy removal technique for removing the OEM guards: start peeling from the top. The trick is to use a little heat from the gun and steadily pull the film straight up while peeling it off (as if you're looking to stretch it off).
The next step is to clean the surface, add a little detergent for lubrication, then apply the new film and gently slide it into place. Then finally use a squeegee to remove any bubbles.
Rob had both sides done within fifteen minutes.

You'd be better served to have an installer custom cut the pieces to actually fit a larger area, allowing them to hide the seams inside of the door jams and wheel wells. Even if you kept the front (toward the door) the same, and wrapped the back side into the wheel well, it would look better. These look bad when they yellow, but also when the edges get dirty. With fewer edges showing, the dirt won't show up as badly. Also, keep in mind that the color of the car will also dictate how "yellow" the clear bra looks. I've seen brand new white cars done, and you can see a shade of yellow before the car even leaves the showroom.
Or just get black ones and call it a day. Did this on my previous Cayman and it looked good.
