My car arrival is finally confirmed and the completion date is on or around the 26th September.
I have gathered as much information as I could for the build from this forum and have arranged detailing, and a few other things for when it arrives but the next big step will be.

No questions from me... I have read all I can on it and spoken to many Porsche specialist and Porsche racing engine builders and rebuilders.
There is a general consensus of which way to go...

But I have been doing the maths as I have seen no one approach running in from this direction. I did it with a lot of assumptions and guess work but always the end result is very high.

I am trying to work out how many revs the car will do by the time running in is complete.
2000miles
divide by 45 mph = 44.444444 hrs driving
3500 rpm( average revs) x 60 = 210,000 revs an hour
44.4 x 210,000
9324000 revs

So that means the piston bore is rubbed approx 9324000 times before the car is run in and you are able to drive above 4200 revs...

This figure is reached through a lot of guess work and uninformed assumptions, but it give you an idea of the number of revolutions needed to achieve 2000 miles.

9324000 revolutions seems like a lot to me. Can all those revolution "all" really be needed?

 

Forget about the number of revolutions. The engine is capable of many hundreds of thousands of miles, so 2,000 for break in in a minor detail. Additionally, in Europe Porsche tells new owners to drive it like you would normally from the get go. Only in the USA do they recommend the 2,000 mile break in.

 

Just rev the cr@p out of it from day one.

Is the European warranty shorter than the North American one?
