Do you live anywhere near Alpharetta. That's where I hear some of the latest laser guns are. Just curious if you've actively jammed some of them with the ALP's.

Also, I turn off the park assist modes.

A friend of mind actively participates in the RALETC tests here in Atlanta. They're doing one just about every month and have several of the newer guns like Dragoneye and Stalker XLR and the only thing that seems to win all the tests is the AL Priority. They've tested the guns on the Blinder, Laser Interceptor, Escort 9500Ci old and new, and the ALP.

The ALP and Laser Interceptor setup seemed to jam most effectively with the edge going to the ALP. Blinder didn't even alert to the new guns and the 9500CI old didn't jam but did alert. The new 9500CI with the "laser interceptor" sensors did alert and jammed partially but not effectively. I'll see if I can dig up the link he sent me showing the actual test results.
What is your control setup for the ALP and the STi-R..? Just two sets of controls? I can barely find room for the STi-R much less another control head.

For the moment I decided to go ahead and bought the STi-R and will work on installing it over thanksgiving weekend. I'll worry about the LJ solution later once I figure out an acceptable solution. It sounds like the ALP is the way to go. But part of me isn't even sure if the local city cops I interact with even use LIDAR.

And if LIDAR, is it even the latest guns..? Yeah yeah, the LIDAR geeks talk about only wanting the latest technology but I don't see large LE departments spending large amounts of money switching to the latest technology consistently. Hell in reality so few people even have LJ equipment I can't imagine it being the cat and mouse game that it is made out to be. Of course if you are in an area that is using the latest guns (apparently Atlanta and NY/NJ seem to be the hotspots) you need better protection.. but I'm not even sure if it is even getting used in my area.

Sounds like it is more mutually beneficial discussion by the Gun and Jammer manufactures. Gives them something new to push continuously. In real life so few people really have them I doubt LE's departments are willing to spend many 100's of $ very often to change out their equipment.

Maybe I'll wait and see if locally they are using LIDAR or not as part of my decision.

Here in WA State it's almost impossible with their instant-on K band (they use laser
from stationary situation traps mostly) to avoid a ticket if you are speeding.

These troopers are driving regular marked Crown Vic Fords + unmarked green, blue, brown whatever in every brand/type of vehicle you could imagine and they wait until the point of no return.

If you see a car coming at you from far away, you just never know. I seldom dare to speed anymore.

ALP is hidden. Don't ever need to really access the control module ever except for turning it off and the speaker is unbelievably loud. The LED can go just about anywhere though. I wired a separate on/off rocker switch that turns both the STIR and ALP off at the same time. STIR display above the steering wheel column and controller on the seam between the center console and lower carpet right near my knee.

I work at a shop that specializes in this kind of thing so I'm pretty well versed in all the laser and radar technologies and it literally changes daily. You're right Atlanta is a pretty massive hotbed for all these new guns.

I'm confused now - Can I use the new 9500ci along with the ALP jammers? I know the new 9500 comes with only two but can I use those in the are and add two APL's to the front of the car?

Thanks!

So maybe the Beltronics STI-R Plus Radar Detector and dual head ALP units would be ideal for front protection??

Yup. I run 3 on the front, and that's probably my paranoia about the CTTS having a large front. I also run 2 heads on the back but I've yet to be tagged from behind. I'm also in the SF Bay Area so if you want to meet up to check it out.

Thanks - where did you get yours installed?

I saw some very nice install pics on youtube - done in Portland.

I originally had the STiR and Laser Intercepter installed by Premier. There is a link in my signature that shows the work they did on my CTTS. I switched ovee to ALP about 3 months back. I went with an ALP authorized dealer, which happened to be Alekshop. He's pretty well known around the bay area. The only problem I had with them was I was there FIRST install so the install went less than smoothly (i.e. firmware was not loaded, one front sensor was plugged into the gps slot). Took 3-4 trips to iron it out. Luckily at the time I was not working.

That's good to hear. Like I said, they are well respected amongst the BMW/Porsche enthusiasts. In the end the install was good, just being the canary in the coal mine was frustrating at times.

My experience with cars that have both the 9500CIpro and the ALP system is that both systems tend to feed off of each-other. So if you're hit with a laser gun, they both will detect and if the ALP is in unlimited jam mode it will cause the two to continuously set each other off until they're physically turned off. My opinion is that there's no real need for 5 sensors on the front of the car. Stick with a Beltronics STI-R for your radar purposes and do the 2 or 3 head ALP up front.
