Power Frunk in the future please!
I'm with you! Hate touching the paint too.
My reasoning for the badge, is that because of the accessible screws underneath, it may not be as reinforced.
You are correct, it shows below the crest on each side of it.
Overall, I'm not a big fan of pressing on the hood at all. Many might think this is being too neurotic, but it's just me!

Plus the closer you are to an edge, the stronger it is. Put that same pressure in the middle somewhere, and might leave a dent.
I know the hood easily dents if you overpack the frunk. Suncoast even sells some plastic inner liner to help with that.
At the end of the day, it wouldn't surprise me if Porsche never changed the way it works now.

My salesman told me to close the frunk by placing one palm of my hand left to right under the Porsche badge (not on it), then push down on my palm with the other. This works well and I have opened and closed the frunk many times this way without even feeling the metal under my hand bend.

We all know the procedure on how to close the frunk, it is not rocket science.
The whole thing that you just push gently with your finger is not exactly true, at least in my car you have to put some effort into it. There is a noticeable resistance before it closes.
I can tell you that when the car is cooking in the sun for hours, no matter how you try to close it, it is not a fun experience in those instances.
Of course, these are first world problems and I really do not mind it that much after all.
Just an idea. I do think it would nice to have a power option to close the frunk. I like practical conviniences not so much just endless tech gadgets.

the posts are just soldered on by their ends to the back of the emblem and the nuts are speed nuts, so not even threaded
Yeah and one should be able to wave the foot underneath the front spasm spoiler and the hood should openup, just like Ford Escape trunk! It''d be soooo convenient....
The area below the crest is more reinforced and I'd rather push on that than the crest. The crest only has two posts and screws holding it on too. Not the strongest thing in my opinion.

That argument might be relevant if for example you used your palm and were to push very hard with a motion that was sheer to the frunk hood. But unless you are very strong and completely ham fisted. Even that I doubt you could break it.
After looking at this particular video (I've seen others that indicate push on the crest) I suspect some fear on their part of an owner doing something ham fisted may indeed be their rational for recommending you to put a smudge on the frunk paint everytime you close the damn thing. I'm also not sure if I were to be a petite woman I could apply the force with just my fingertips. I'll have to have my girlfriend try it to see, but there is a reasonably larger force you have to apply (unless mine is badly adjusted) if I were to do the smudge the frunk method I'd still use the heel of my palm.
When they show the trunk of the boxter being closed they also show them pushing on the trunk lid off specifically not on the boxter badging using the same technique. I suspect for the same reason of not wanting to damage the badging.
In any case it is hard to argue contrary to what Porsche recommends (at least in this one video), but after looking at how the frunk latch is put together to the lid and its construction.. I'm feeling much better about the base of the palm pressure on the bottom side of the crest. And the reality I doubt any of this matters as I've yet to see this area bent on any recent model porsche (997 or 991).
But hey enjoy the fingerprints.
