First Porsche Day
First Porsche Day
Over the weekend I flew to Los Angeles to drive back my new-to-me 991 C2S. It's a 2013 with PDCC, SPASM, M7, Sport Chrono, Adaptive Sport Seats Plus, Burmester, Premium Plus, Leather Interior in Custom Color, and some other things.
Unfortunately with exception to the drive home to Phoenix, I haven't driven the car because Porsche of DTLA is making it difficult to get the title. They took my cashier's check for the car, and said they verified it and would fedex the title out Monday morning, but yesterday around noon I got a call saying the business office was wanting to wait for the check to clear. The sales manager wanted to run my credit and said it would help him get me my title faster. Paid in full transaction means no need to run credit, so I think something else is going on, but anyway, I have the car and I love it, even if I only get to look at it for now.
Congrats on the gorgeous car! Saw you over on /r/porsche ;-)
I paid for both my newer cars in full but the dealer still insisted on running a credit check. I never understood that. Hopefully your situation is resolved soon. With my 911 they submitted the wrong name to the DMV so the title went to someone else. *That* was fun.

I don't get it - you gave them a cashier's check which means the funds are held and good. Cashier's check is as good as cash -- this credit check crap is just BS, something else is going on.
Lots of counterfiet cashiers checks.
Pretty much no better than a personal check.
Just wait for it to clear and you can confirm your bank paid it.
Then you will get the title.
Keep your bill of sale handy.
Don't humor them with running your credit, that is BS.

Congrats! I'm quite confused as to what on Earth a credit check has anything to do with getting a title for a car. ...And what the logic is surrounding such a statement.
I would tell them - they should fix their stuff, get your title straightened out, tell them to submit their credit report to you before mailing anything, and see if they think it makes any sense.

I confronted the sales manager over the phone today, asking if he simply shouldn't have let me take the car and asked to do the credit check to save his own butt, to which he replied "yes". He stated he didn't want to insult me by running my credit but he had to prove to his business office that I was capable of financing the car in the event my cashier's check were fraudulent or did not clear for some reason. I also believe they may have had reason to think I was someone they should cover all their bases with, being the first car I've ever purchased at this price point and having few high-ticket credit items and no high lines of credit.
At this point, I'm satisfied, but I do wish he had been a little more transparent during the process, as working with someone who is playing coy is about as fun as stubbing your toe.
