Finally!!!
Finally!!!
Finally had the chance to air out my GTS! Yesterday, I drove the GTS from Los Angeles to Palm Desert heading out on the 10 freeway and then to the 60. Since taking ownership last August the car has been mostly used for weekend driving back in Maryland. In February, we shipped the car to Los Angeles ahesd of our move out to the West Coast. Much to my surprise I had only put 2800 miles or so on the odometer since taking ownership. For the past several months my wife and I have been staying with her mother in Palm Desert while out apartment is being renovated. Until yesterday, the GTS has remained parked in the garage back at our apartment building in L.A. We've been using her Cayenne to get around and for the back and forth trips to L.A. to check on things at the apartment. Anyway, on the trip to L.A. yesterday I thought I would drive us back to the desert in the GTS since I hadn't driven it in over a month and since we would be returning to the city on Thursday. So, that's the set-up. The almost 3-hour drive is the longest straight driving I've done in the car and even with the suspension in Sport Plus the seats provided a rather comfortable ride. Torque in this thing is astonishing and immediate! Much to my surprise, the car literally cruises in the 90s! Steering, of course, is quite nimble and precise. The temperature was in the low 80s most of the way, so we kept the roof retracted and the windows down...the sound from the exhaust was pretty damn pleasant! Other than how quickly the GTS got up to speed, what impressed me immediately was how planted the car felt and how straight it tracked.
Fantastic. These cars are so much more enjoyable when you have the right places to drive them, and from LA you have so many options. You should do a Canyon run near San Diego and in Northern mexico sometime.
I'm just getting my first Porsche delivered tonight, and have scheduled lunch in the North Georgia mountains with my wife tomorrow. I can't wait.

Yes a great trip indeed. I did my longest trip in my GTS recently to Santa Barbara (haha!) and I was impressed with how comfortable it was. I've only had mine a couple months and that's the biggest thing I look forward to doing on the weekends.
I'm in Brentwood. Hit me up if you ever want to take a dash through Malibu/Mulholland on the weekends!
