Small Bumper Mishap

Does anyone know of a good and reputable paint and dent repair shop in Northern Virginia?

I have read threads here about doing body repairs and almost everyone seems to emphasize the need for a good paint shop. The damage is small, but I think there is a little crease. I would like to repair it rather than replace the entire bumper.

Thank you,

cai

Check with your local Porsche dealer for an Porsche Certified Collsion Center in the area. Or find out the name of the body/paint shop the dealer has handle its body/paint work.

Let the body/paint shop decide what's best. Unless the damage is just paint deep my WAG is the shop will recommend replacing the bumper cover with a new one.

I don't believe there is any way to remove a crease from the plastic bumper covers without removing and sending it out for reconditioning and then a full respray. If you try one of those repair it on the car fixes, I believe you will regret it.

There is a place behind the Audi dealer on Tyco Rd in Tysons that is a Porsche certified shop. Tysons Corner Collision Center. This is the place Porsche of Tysons recommends. I've gotten two estimates for different work on my Macan there, however I have not yet pulled the trigger on the work so I cannot personally recommend them. Just FYI.

Thank you all very much for your input.

I followed your advice and called Porsche of TC. They mentioned TC Collision Center. I will make an appointment and get an estimate. I am going to see if it can be fixed as cairo 94507 says, a real off body straightening and good repaint.

I will let you know about price and result later.

I did get a quote for a minor bumper scratch on the Macan. The estimate involved taking the bumper off, sanding, repaint. Came in around $1200. Just to give you a ballpark....

Along those same lines...any word on NT AutoBody?

Thinking of taking my 2008 MX-5 there.

They are both owned by the same company...

(That being said, they are Porsche certified and I have used them before. Pricey...but they do good work.)

I have have had outstanding results with Tyson's Collision Center with a fairy major job on my Macan. Pricy but perfect, as I had been told for a Porsche certified shop.

I have also had outstanding results with Oldest to Newest in Rockville for minor paint scrapes on bumpers (Porsche) and minor body work (Mazda). Initially, descriptions of what would be needed seemed like overkill and estimates for seemed high. But they were similar to other estimates I got.

Doing a proper job on minor bumper cap paint scratches - with no damage to the cap - required removing the cap material, prepping and painting the entire cap with color and clear coats (so that the work was undetectable) cost about $700. They matched metallic paint on a two year old car perfectly.
