991.2 experience
991.2 experience
Since I'm still newbie to Porsche - I wonder what's other opinions on new 2017 911?
My overall experience is great - I'd like that car... But I wish Porsche had more attention to details.
For example - door panels (inside) - constant marks from fingers/elbow - have to clean it almost daily to maintain decent look - none of my other cars had/have similar problem (from cheapest nissan to relatively pricey bmw/lexus).
PCM - as it self (touch, speed) good - but again - it seems they rushed it - and it has annoying issues:
- don't remember last active screen (after call or after you start a car - always activates 'phone' screen) - annoying when you using navigation and after receiving/calling somebody it stays at phone - instead of returning to map;
- sometime unable to switch sirius channels via steering wheel controls (push on right rotary wheel) - sometime list is empty - or you unable to select any station.
- to use PCM software on phone they require that your phone to be connected through WIFI to the car (wtf? what's wrong with bluetooth???)
- data plan and sim card it seems only used to provide traffic information for navigation - no any other use. No pandora, spotify, etc... And only other way to "feed" car with data - is provide wifi hotspot via phone or dedicated modem (again - no bluetooth for some reason).
- sirius xm. I with they had internal app for spotify or pandora. Like other car do. sirius with their reception and music quality should go.
p.s. my car is 911.2 S Cab

I started my post with "I'd like this car"
- so it drives good - none of things mentioned in my post affects driving - I just wish that Porsche spend more time on overall experience
...However - one thing I forgot to mention - it's stupid auto-stop feature - when it automatically turns off engine on lights/intersections... And it's really annoying - and you can't disable that in 2017 model - unless by pressing stupid button each time you sit in the car
I'm confused. You say "Id like that car" which to me means you don't have one but you'd like one. Then at the bottom of your post you say you have a 991.2 S.
So, you own the car, correct? Are you happy with the way it drives? If you are, I'd suggest you enjoy it. I'll be ordering one shortly. After my experience with BMW, I'll be happy with a car that won't drop cell phone calls that are in progress. The other stuff will get worked out in software updates I'm sure.

. Yes, I have car and already put 2k miles. And I hope they fix these annoying issues. The reason I started this thread - is to figure out - is it just me who thinks it's annoying ?
I agree its annoying. Its funny, the way consumer preferences are going, more and more technology is being demanded in cars, even Porches which are traditionally drivers cars. When you get to the hard core lineup GT2/3, some cars don't have radios, AC, back seats etc. The base 911s are more GT cars than ever before offering more everyday comfort and convenience. I understand the Porsche PCM in the .2 is much faster and intuitive, but as you point out, not perfect yet. For me, a properly functioning Apple Car Play is all I'd really need. Easy access to my music catalogue, ability to hear text messages and respond is all I really need. I had that functionality on a rental car last month and was left wondering why anyone would need more. Hopefully PCNA gets the bugs out of your car and the later cars being manufactured now.

Wait. Regarding the auto stop feature. I've seen some cars with the auto stop/start button so does that mean if it has the button, it has the auto stop start feature? OR does it mean that all cars have the feature and you can only disable it if it has the button ???
All 2017 911 with PDK have auto/stop feature - and it always on - only way to disable it - each time you start car - press stupid button.

Has button
Start car
Auto Start Stop feature button Red
Which means button is On, which means Start Stop feature is Off.
If I want it to save gas and shut off at a light, I have to push button, red light off, which means Auto Start Stop feature is on.
