991.2 Sensor Recall

Everyone who has purchased a 991.2 (mine is a 2.17 build date) should be aware that there is a faulty sensor that sends a disturbing and scary warning though instrument panel and temp gauge that the engine temperature is too hot and that the engine must be turned off immediately. That was not the case (as I found out) and when you turn off the engine and then restart the warning goes away. Dealership is replacing my sensor now. Just an FYI for others

There were at least three NHTSA bulletins for "engine and engine cooling" false warnings. At least one of them was attributed to a sensor position. None indicated more than "cooling system fault" and "check engine light" appearing in MFD. Do you actually get a shut down engine now message? Don't see anything else listed.... Try to get the dealer SA to provide you with a Bulletin or Campaign #. That would be helpful.

.

Dealer said Porsche NA sending out recall notice to now. The warning indicated to shut off engine immediately. Forgot the exact verbiage in the instrument panel but that is what it indicated. Everyone should contact their dealer service department and ask.

Same thing happened to me

I had the exact experience about 2 weeks ago with my 991.2 and it turns out my car went in to the dealer on the same day that the recall notice came out. I had to wait almost a week until the part came in but at least I was able to drive a new Macan as the loaner.

Same problem about a week ago. Dealer had the parts in stock. Takes the good part of a day to do the job. Bumper off and coolant reservoir replaced.

I have a 2017 991.2 TS,pu`d 4-14-16,current,782mi...there are 2x campaigns I know
of 1-WG42-coolant reservoir..replacement..2..WG30,-DME control unit,re-promgram

Checking the coolant level....it always needs coolant..not much....
That's before & after the reservoir was replaced...where the hell is the coolant going?
I forgot to ask the service guy, when I picked up the car....will ask...hope they know.

I called several Cal service depts.,asking "how much coolant does the tank hold"?
Never got a definitive answer.....I think its aprox 6 gals...My owners manu..grew legs
cant find it.....

Safe Driving..................Ciao..................... .........Nache
