991.2 life expectancy

Hello All, I'm looking into getting a 2017 911 c4s, however I was wondering how long until there is a complete redesign of the 911, such as 997 to 991. It just seems that the 991 is around since 2012 or 2013. thanks

I would guess 2021 if history is a guide
The 997.1 ran '05-'08, then the 997.2 another 4 yrs .
Therefore the 991.2 should likely have a 4 year run as well...

Typical life span of modern German cars is 7 years with a mid cycle mild redo (.2).

I thought I read somewhere that the 991 came out a year earlier in Europe as a 2011 model before it came to the States later as a 2012.5 model.

The most likely would be availability of the redesigned Carrera models in late 2019 as a 2020 model year (USA). The targa, turbo, and GT variants would come later.

They could always do it differently, but that's how it went from the 997 to the 991.

Europe labels their cars per calendar year....Jan 1 to Dec 31. The US model year can have only one Jan 1 so MY2012 Porsches sold in the US in September 2011 would be the same car in Europe sold as a MY2011. In the US look for the 2019 992 to be for sale in the fall of 2018 following the 7-year product cycle.

So when do you think 991.2 production will stop? Specifically, what would be the latest one could custom order a 991.2?
