Delimination-Scratches in Carrera S 19" wheel
Delaminations-Scratches in Carrera S 19" wheel
Hello everyone:
My car is 991.1 C4. I bought it 6 months ago. It was 3 years old and 37.000 km. My wheels are 19´´Carrera S model.
Yesterday I went to a service (no Porsche Official) to change the front tires.
They did the job and when I went to pick it up I noticed two scratches (delaminations) on the front left wheel (you can see details in pictures):

They told me they need 3 days to send the wheel to an "external service" in order to ´repair´ the wheel.
My questions:
1. Are those kind of scratches (delaminations) normal for an OEM wheel?
2. Is it possible my wheel had a previous repair process considering the kind of the damage?
3. Is it acceptable to repair my wheel in terms of aesthetic result and safety?
Thank you for your comments.
Enrique

1. Yes, if the wheels are knocked by a hard object such as a rock or wrench.
2. Probably not. That type of damage is not necessarily an indication of previous damage/repair.
3. Yes to both. If the repair is done properly, you'll never know there was damage.
It's good that the installer acknowledged the damage as their fault and are willing to fix it.
