991.2 Turning Full Lock Rubbing sound

I understand that on the 911 991.2 at full lock at slow speeds there is a rubbing or popping sound coming from the front tires and this is normal.

Is this tire noise louder when using summer tires in the winter?

is this tire noise also present in 991.1 911s?

kind of annoying honestly on such a nice car.

anything to stop it from happening?

Normal. Summer tires in winter does make it worse. And, it is present in the .1 too. Physics - cannot stop it from happening, but winter tires in cold weather will lessen the effect.

Do 20in tires vs 19in make a difference?

left turn or right turn same noise?

it happens even at almost full turn lock.
Is that normal too?

Its normal for the 997's, 991's and the 987's. Has to do with the Ackerman designed into the front suspension.
The inside and outside tires don't track the same arc when at near full lock. I believe the outside tires will chatter because it drags on the pavement while the inside rolls.

My 20 inch makes less noise than my old 19s, but noise is still there. Same noise left and right, and same "thumping" effect at almost full lock. Its normal.

Thank you. I took my 997 out early this year and have heard this noise a few times. I never heard it before this year.

My understanding it is not something specific to Porsche. It happens in any car with low profile tires. It does happen with my wife’s Audi TT.
