Hearing a thump when turning lock to lock.

I have had my turbo for about 6 months now, I just started noticing that if I turn it full lock to back out of a parking spot that i get a single thump and then it sounds fine....any clues? I also feel a slight vibration above 80 mph....always once it hits 80 i feel it all the way through the mph after that and it doesn't go away....any ideas? Maybe just needs a corner alignment or rebalance the tires....tires are pretty new only 5k miles on them (RE-11's). Thanks!

like clicking sound? while steering?

if yes this maybe the bushings in the shock absorber chair .. i dont know what they call it but its the part that holds the shock with the body of the car its minor problem can be done in 2 hours if the part is available.<O></O>

the other thing you may check the balancing of your tires but fix the first problem first and see how it goes ..<O></O>

best of luck <O

it only pops once it's hit full lock and it only does it once, not continuously and it doesn't do it when driving only while stopped or slowly moving.

yea its seems what im talking about ..

while driving and turning in speeds over 15mph its not there and in parking or turning at very low speed it clicks .

even once then that bushings needs to be changed and by time it will get more and more knocking , a friend had it for a year now and was told by the porsche it has to be changed but it doesnt affect the susp. in anyway so he is kind of a loud music guy and not annoyed by this at the moment lol ...

This is a good Question I have had the same problem drives me crazy. When I am turning into a parking space or a real tight turn I have noticed this also I, lowered my car so this may have affected it.

Wow, I have exactly the same problem but mine doesn't do it at lock. Only does it backing out when cold but after a few feet wont do it anymore until cold again. I guess all cars have something weird

Mine is the same, happens once backing out of the garage, then that's it for the day.

Have the same thing, when I was buying my car had the dealer tell me it could be the front differential. So I had seller knock another 8k off price to fix it. Didn't fix it yet, been almost a year no issues and I track it.

you may have two separate issues (thump vs vibration). as for the thump, does it happen when you are standing still and turn the wheel without moving or do you hear it only when you begin to move?

If the former it could be the diff. if the latter it is likely simply the tires stuttering when cold, see this link which explains the phenomenon:

Finally, as for the vibration at 80mph, you need to check the tire balance first.

Agreed.

**The vibration above 80 mph then persisting is definitely un-usual and not normal. At least, I have never felt that in my car.
**The thump OTOH may or may not be "normal." At slow speed, typically while backing out at max steering angle, people have described clunk noises in the past. Spring rotating slightly and settling onto the hat/seat maybe? At any rate, the key is that there is no noise with normal driving.

Both require inspection obviously. Good luck.
