Question Experiences with rear engine lid struts?

Rear engine lid struts on my 991 need to be replaced after 2 years? Can't believe struts need to be replaced so soon......on my 993 I got an average of 7 years with an engine that runs much hotter and closer to those struts. Please the lid is only raised when I wash the car or top up the oil/antifreeze...found some new ones for $48 each but what a rip off...

Have seen some people got dealers to replace under CPO?

My 2015 went bad in 2019. Too lazy to warranty them. The lifts are the same as E90 BMW so I bought the generic ones.

Not unusual. 2014 C2S. Replaced after 3 years failure. Warranty.

My C2S14 struts failed in 2017, replaced just before warranty expired.. seemed really lame

Seems they last abt 3 yrs, My '15 struts failed in '18, replaced under warranty. The tech said it is a very common problem, as can be assumed based on this thread.

My '15 struts actually just failed over the weekend when I was working on the car. Got a couple new ones on the way. They're not expensive.

I was surprised that my 2013's struts were weak in 2017. They hadn't failed but were nevertheless replaced under warranty right before warranty was up.
