Battery Tender Question (Help!!)

Hi Guys,
Want to identify the best way to keep my battery happy and could use some help. How do you guys use your Battery Tender? My connector through the cigarette lighter is a poor fit (e.g., too loose) -- apparently, this is common to Porsche. (The adaptor works great on my other cars, though.)

The dealer suggested hooking the Tender directly to the car's battery terminals for a better charge. If so, what's the easiest way to access/hide the connector? -- I don't want to keep going through the trunk but would rather prefer to access it from underneath the car to keep the vermin/dust/etc. out.

Whaddya' guys do that works for you? I'd like to resolve ASAP and I'm all ears. Thanks for sharing and can't wait to hear from you guys.

DAVID

Bed the metal tabs on the cig lighter & just keep using that. You can't get to the battery any other way then in the trunk, from the top.

QUESTION #1 Can you elaborate on what you mean? The male cig adaptor is way loose and doesn't make a good fit with the female end. Do you mean I should be "flaring" out the metal tabs on the male unit?

And there's no way to thread attachments to the battery terminal under the front of the car? No drainage hole? How about through the tow hook hole? -- although I'd rather not mess with that if possible.

QUESTION #2 If I do go through the cigarette lighter, can I close the door on the cable without fear of harming it OR do I need to either keep the door ajar a bit (which'd leave the light on) or run it through an open window? I'd prefer to have the car locked up to preserve the leather from vermin/etc.

There are 2 prongs on the side, that ground the unit, & if you flare them out a bit, it will fit tighter. Leave the window open & just have the cable go through it.

Go & open the trunk & look at the battery, there is no way to access it with out the trunk, it's a water tight area.

I have one on all my cars and use the cigarette lighter. I bent the tabs and they fit tight.

I use my Battery Tender directly connected to the battery. I dress the cable neatly on the driver's side front of the hood and simply close it. The cable is thin enough to fit through the gap and the hood closes snugly. No problems.
