Ruf CTR2 and Ruf RTurbo
Ruf CTR2 and Ruf RTurbo
Hey guys just looking for some information about these two particular models offered by Ruf.
First off, are these two conversions still offered by Ruf?
What are the main differences between these two conversions?
Does anyone know how much each conversion would cost?
And lastly do you think Ruf will always offer these conversions or do you think eventually they will stop?
Thanks in advance guys.

Ruf still does conversions on 993's so I'd assume you'd have no prob getting your 996 converted. Theres some guys in the porsche present forum that could definitely give you some estimates on cost.
CTR2 is RUF VIN only, not conversion. TurboR could be both. CTR2 no longer available, although if you buy a used/beat-up one, you can have RUF refurbish it for you. I know the TurboR engine conversion is available, but aero/gauges/wheels/seats and other stuff are kind of hit or miss. Available at certain times, not available at others. For instance, to my knowledge, the RUF 993 aerokit is not available at this time.
Since both cars are fully configurable based on customer's tastes, it's impossible to identify all the differences. However, the differences are similar to the difference between the new 997 conversion vs RUF VIN cars. Handbuilt, IRC, special colors, special interiors, optional equipment and bizarre requests only available on the VIN cars.
Costs all depend on how much equipment you want to change. They will eventually stop doing the conversions, just as they did with the BTRI, BTRII, BTRIII, RCT, RCT EVO, etc.

993 Turbo R conversion is definitely still available. I keep one of my cars at the Ruf Dallas location and see conversions going on all the time. They do Turbo R (993) and R Turbo (996) all the time. In fact, they just finished a Turbo R about 2 weeks ago. That conversion starts at around $30k but can go up significantly from there. Some will do bodywork, some will leave completely stock looking and all levels in between.
I don't know much about the CTR2, but the Turbo R motor has larger turbos, modified camshafts, new exhaust and remapped Bosch motronics. They quote 490hp for the Turbo R but it actually runs around 510hp. Trust me, it's STRONG and very driveable. They also can start with the motor from either a 993tt or a C4S.

Luis, where is the car located? Any chance it'd be available for a photoshoot?
