Situation... Obvious power increase is happening.

Question... What section width tires do you folk recommend. I currently run 295/30/18 BF G-Force KDW. Can I go 315 or 335. I understand new wheels will be a must. I have 11 inch 996 turbo twist wheels. So I may put a 315 on those right??

Questions, thoughts, comments? Please help.

 

Yes the car is lowered now. But its adjustable suspension. Yes the car is still AWD but I am debating conversion. That may extend the transmission life anyway. On the 295's right now I don't have any rub on the back or front. Except when I go over railroad tracks at 60 mph. I have proven though hitting the railroad tracks at 100 and they are nonexistent ;-) I get it now though. If I want to use a 315 I will most likely need a super custom wheel setup.

 

I still run 295's in back on 996TT wheels, 225 up front. Wider rears on the same size rims might not ride any better since the sidewalls would be softer on the same rims, even if there is no rubbing-this is why I have kept on the 295's with the 996TT rims. You could go with wider rear rims, especially if you go RWD, but you would need fender flares ala GT2 for proper fit.

 

Ahhh. I think I will just stay with the 295's. How is your traction situation Al?

 

On the street, PS2's can spin easily. On the track, Cups warmed up hook up pretty well.

 

I use the 996TT wheels for the rear, but 996GT2 wheels for the front as the solid-spoke GT2 wheels cleared my front brakes-I have 997GT3RSRCup brakes and the hollow-spoke 996TT wheels have a smaller inside diameter versus the GT2 wheels. I even put the 225's on the GT2 wheels which stretches the sidewall so they are nice and firm on the track. A wider front tire on the same width wheel with the same tire diameter would soften the sidewall which could adversely affect handling so I stick with the 225's.

 

315's will fit fine and not rub on 996 turbo 11" wheels. I used to run those on my old C4S with no problem. However, each tire manufacturer's 315 may be slightly different in width.

 

hmmmmm. Maybe just a test fit then, Im not sure though. Then I will have to raise the car up and align everything. All that Jazz.

 

I run 275 front and 315 rear hoosier r6 @ track with no modifications or fender rolling on stock bodywork.
