996tt vs. 993tt HP Comp

Anyone have any insight comparing money/time to tune a 993tt comp to a 996tt (upwards of 650hp). I love my 996 but really like the look and sound of the 993 more. Thanks

Excellent question.
I am also wondering the same thing, since I'll be looking into a TT model in the future.
Really love the lines of the 993, but curious about power potential and reliability of the air-cooled models.

There's no comparison as far as horsepower potential. Air cooling is just too inefficient........takes off machinery Engineer's helmet

About 50 Caterpillar 3608, 3612, 3616 engines, and a similar number of Waukesha engines. These are huge 4,000 hp workhorses. They last about 5 minutes when a water pump goes out (they have automatic shutdown on coolant temp). Look, 993TTs are great cars but they are limited by the cooling system......thermodynamic FACT.

Just trying to help out the original poster......If I wanted to incite myopic posturing I'd go to the Rennlist NA 993 forum

Good point considering a good friend of mine extracted 1153.6RWHP out of a '94 964 Turbo motor... oh and holds the record for the worlds fastest Porsche in the quarter mile at 9.17s @ 161mph, and fastest trap speed of 167mph.
