new 993 owner from manila
Really? 6-7 years ago i still had my slk r170 and a 91 sl 500... maybe youre goin around in the wrong neighborhoods beauespirit =)
actually the reason why I got the 993 apart from the fact that it had been my dream car in college is because there are so many boxsters around ... even if i have an s...people really cant tell the diff... unless you;re driving one...
slks and boxsters are actually quite common here

car finally here!
so i finally got the car!
had full tune up and detailing done...
put some mods
1. red tails
2. white bumper lights
3. installed stock rims
4. silver gauge rings

just waiting for stock rear decklid...and will paint calipers and I'm good to go for now
been a day and lovin the car...very raw...and lovin that raspy engine note!
it's truly a car with alotta character... so old school in feel... and so nimble on the turns...
have one prob so far...
the aircon vent on the dash to windshield seems to be open permanently and fogs up bottom part and is quite annoying...
there dooesnt seem to be a switch to turn that off nor is there one to turn of a/c on feet area..
any reco's on how to solve this? or is my a/c filter due for a change that why air gets diverted up and down instead of straight through the normal vents?
help please?

ok...first gripe... but not so bad...
went to the mall and was carrying alotta stuff...the remote..which is beat up like a pacquaio opponent ...wasn't workin...
I keyed the car in traditional fashion and it started freakin, horn beepin lights flashin... i finally after much frenetic fondling got the thing to stop and unlock...
i put an order for a new key...but it should be here in a month...
in the meantime need your help on how to turn the immobilizer off so the key will work in the keyhole ... and not alarm on me.. given unpredictability of the remote... which has the rubber button pushed in and the plastic casing about ready to fall apart
help?

On the AC there are 3 servo's under a black plastic cover under the hood. These control the flaps for directing heat to the windshield/floor & fresh air vent. Then there are 2 vacuum controlled flaps that control air recirculation, center vent. Play around with the controls with the hood open & the cover off, see if the servos move.
The servos can wear out & will be stuck either open or closed. You can have a vacuum leak & the vacuum flaps will be stuck open. Same place as the servos there is a vacuum actuator on the passenger side you will see the vacuum hose. With the engine on, test for vacuum @ the actuator, then apply vacuum to the other side & see if the air flaps close.
Lastly, the CCU (HVAC controller) can fail, & can either be fixed or replaced. It may show up on a ODB scan, as can faulty servos.
Now on to the immobilizer, you CAN NOT shut it off. That would not make it a good alarm. What you can do, is just replace the batteries in the remote. Ask your local dealer for the "key code" if the alarm remote doesn't work, you can input the code with the key & start the car.

thanks cabrio,
hey stealth,
thanks too for the comprehensive reply...
i actually feel like a retard... for the aircon all i needed to do was move the two sliders to the left... it seems so logical that the top slider was for a/c vent to windshield up top and bottom slider is to a/c vent to feet...
problem solved!
as for the key..it's not the battery...it's really the poor quality of the design...the rubber button does not hit the contact well..and so I struggle with mangling the rubber button wth my thumb til a red light comes on for the key to work...
I've put out an order for one of those upgraded key housings attached to key chain like in http://p-car.com/diy/key/
hopefully that should fix it?
anotherr question...
is this the most active forum on 993?
doesn't seem to be too many people on here... you guys members of other 993 forums?
