new 993 owner from manila

Hi all,

just pulled the trigger on a 1996 c2 from tokyo...it should be here in about a month's time... quite excited...

have a cayenne and boxster s.... finally got the car I've been dreamin of since highschool...would've wanted a widebody s or a later model but quite happy with the one i got...good condition low mileage...will post pix soon as it arrives

here's some questions

1. wanna get the white gauges with silver surrounds... any recos on where to get online?

2. want to also upgrade brakes...anyone do a big red s upgrade? or any recomended aftermarket upgrade kit?

3. before i swapped to carrera s 19s I had 18's turbo rims on my boxster...wanted to put em on the 993...are 986 and 993 same offset?

4. any other interesting mods you guys have done? exhaust? interior?

thanks guys! can't wait!

here are pix of the other cars

thanks ducky,

my 993 is leaving the port in japan on june 5... it takes three weeks to ship and do al the paper work so end of june I'll have all 3 in my garage...

hope new friends on here can chime in on best place to get parts for it... my boxster is 2001 and the cayenne 04 so the carrera will be the senior citizen...slightly worried about maintenace etc due to its age...but i hope like with all P-cars it's as bulletproof...

really wanting the silver/white gauges and also saw some nice carbon interiors...

would be great if you guys can post what you've done in terms of mods so i may ge some inspiration...thanks again!

Get the factory gauges, they cost a lot, but are the "best". The other option is sending in all the gauges to "North Hollowood Speedo" they can change them out, also expensive, but less them getting new Porsche ones.

Upgrade to big reds? WHY? Stock brakes are awesome! Unless you do a ton of other work, it's a waste of money, just paint your stockers red.

Yes, the wheels will bolt right on a NB (narrow body) 993.

Best mods for a 993 are any suspension upgrade that rids the car of the crap stock shocks, & Fister exhasut are simply AWESOME! Interior stuff there isn't a ton out there, other then RS parts, & CF pieces, both are crasy expensive, like $1200 for the CF shift lever & e-brake.

I actually love this carbon interior with silver gauges and aluminum surrounds that i saw online...

http://993c4s.com/wp-content/uploads...o-interior.jpg

how much would this interior set me back for?

as for brakes not sure if i have the drilled rotors... whats stock on a 96 c2? if theyre regular rotors i think i'll need an upgrade... have s brakes on my boxster and wouldnt want the 993 to have wimpy ones

what kind of suspension do you reco? and any online store have a sis in l.a. that i can hassle to get me parts and send over...

thanks for your help!

If you get all that interior trim new, it will set you back like $6000.

ALL 993's have cross drilled rotors. The only differance with Big Reds is they are bigger, other then that they are the same. Stock C2/C4 brakes are anything but wimpy. They can do over 1g of deceleration.

IMHO, the "best" street suspension that will work on the track is the Bilsten PSS10's, they are around $2400 for the kit.

don't know about you bro, but I'd never spend 6 grand for any interior...

a bit of google work and you can get that for under 1k

silver gauge overlays will do the trick vs. changing out the entire gauge...plus alum surrounds

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg2.htm#item7

carbon interior

http://www.nrauto.com/product_body.a...Porsche&type=3

... ordered all the above already... when car comes will install and compare but i think these just might work...

stealth are you sure all 993's came with drilled rotors? ... i seem to remember test driving a couple earlier ones that looked like the brakes weren't drilled... really hope mine does man... then I'll just do the paint thing you recommend

cheers

That Cf trim is NOT CF it's a tape, that is taped on your trim. There is a guy in Germany that makes replicias for less then the dealer, but I think it's still around $3000 for everyhing.

A lot of the gauge overlays are not made for the 993, just the older 911's. They do not have the cut outs for the warning lights. They also do not illumanate as well as the stock ones. My C4S came stock with the silver ones, even they are not the best at night, & some times during the day I can not see the turn single indercaters blinking.

YES< EVERY, EVERY 993 came with drilled rotors & 4 piston calipers.

here is a photo from the warehouse in japan guys...this is what the car looks like now:

apparently those rims are supposed to be nice and expensive...but really not my taste...so i really hope the offset of my 18" twist rims that were on my boxster will be just right for the wider 993 body....also will surely remove the wing......car isn't even here yet and I've already purchased the white gauges and silver surrounds, carbon interior stickers...white front corners...still looking for rear all red tailights and white signal indicators...also want to replace the beat up floormats...any recos?

many thanks!

Those are some expensive wheels. BBS LM's. I am sure if you decided to sell them pending they are in great shape you could make a decent amount of $$

Sorry for the very late reply I have been extremly busy at work but depending on size condition etc I couldnt see you getting any less then $2000. Probably closer to $2500-3000 range if in good condition.

Nice pick, can't go wrong with a 993 C2. The last time I was in Manila 6-7 years ago I saw a arena red one at a Starbucks I was at. I wasn't sure if I was more wowed by seeing a 993 or that a super big Chinese guy that was able to fit in it. I've never seen a convertible there or a vehicle with a sunroof. I'm sure you get a lot looks when driving around in your Boxster.
