best street/track tires for 993?

I have been in GT3 mode for past several years and do to divorce and three kids in college I am back to my 1995 993. I am so happy I never traded or sold it. It's like coming home to an old friend. I need new tires and had some old toyo's that held up well. I have one set of 18 wheels and want the best tire for the track and OK for road. Bias for track as the car is not my daily driver and ride and wear not the main priority but I do want to drive safely to and from track. Thanks. Glad to be back in Porsche land once again.

For the $$, can't beat dunlop dirreza dz101. There's a new version, but I went with the old one.

This tire has been replaced by the Pilot Super Sport.

OP,

If you're running a more track oriented car that will see a bit of street duty I'd go with the Toyo R888. If you don't want an R comp tire and are looking for a max performance street tire I'd look at the Pilot Super Sports, or the new Potenze RE-11A. Hankook RS-3 are also extremely grippy as well.

Michelin added the Super Sport to it's lineup, but never officially called it a replacement for the PS2. It has become the "unwritten" replacement.

There a are a lot of very good tires that would suit both needs. The R888 and RE-11A advise is sound. Yokohama AD08 is also a great one. Please give me a call on Monday and I will be happy to help you!

Thanks.

+1. Only downside with 888's they can become very noisy

And they heat cycle out a bit quickly, turning to rubbish with plenty of tread left.

Not sure what sizes you're looking for:
NT01s are my first choice.
Also, Yokohama Advan AD048 and R888. But don't get caught in the rain or try to hold a normal conversation while driving any of those three. Sport Cups and Corsas are a good bit more expensive.

More options are available if you want a high performing street tire that is OK to track. You've got Pilot Super Sports, RE-11, HTRZ-III, Direzza II, AD08, NT05.

I like HTRZ-III for the street and NT01s for the track (including driving to and from). I've never been happy with trying to make one tire do both.

Tire rack has a great deal on Eagle F1s... under 900 for a set. If the promotion is still on when I need tires, I will buy those

I have HTRZIII's (great value) on my Carrera now but when they wear out I will go with the Michelin Super Sports. I have them on my Cayman which sees track duty and they are the quietest, most comfortable tires I've owned. And they grip like heck!
