993 Targa, C2 or CS?

Any thoughts on a 97 or 98 993 Targa? I had a 96 C2 coupe and a 99 996 C2. I really regret getting rid of the 993 and the 996 was nothing great.

I would do a C2S, but they did not make targas in the widebody.

Love the Targa...but then, it is my 7th Targa...

New here, but FWTW I would not trade the Targa for a sunroof coupe or a cab...nothing better to drive in comfort through the mountains.

As posted, a buddy here at work liked my 96 well enough to get his own 97 Targa.

My only advice would be to make darn sure that power sunscreen is working correctly before you buy it. I got mine in the broken mode and had no idea how complicated it was to get it apart and fix those little brackets.

C2S / C4S are the top 993 models right now besides the turbo. I have a C2S, but I have also driven a Targa and love those too

Either one is cool.... I have a 993 C2S and I have been debating on whether to get a 996 convertible or 993 Convertible..... I am leaning more towards the 993 but can't justify having 2 of the same car (almost the same ).....

But the 993 cab is soooo much better looking ... the best looking topless 911 ... IMHO of course ... and I don't want change.

Those 996 Verts are a dime a dozen, they just made too many of them. I am partial to the 993, but if someone gave me a 996TT I would take it

I was steered away from a 993 targa by a sales rep and Brian Haske, svc. manager at Carlsen. They see a lot of misaligned sunroofs on that model. I love the look of that model. GL with whatever variant you choose.

Hmmmm ... every independent service shop I've asked has said the 993 Targa is solid ... no reason to avoid it over any others.

993 Targas ARE solid. I have a few friends that have them with no issues whatsoever.

I agree - I think I read only 242 US Targas in 1996, and just a few more or less in 1997. Was there a 1998?

On the structural side, I have 93K miles and have not noticed any bad squeeks or rattles; also it does not leak water unless you deliberately squirt a car wash wand at it on an extreme angle.
