Debating between 993 and 996.
#19
I have owned a 97C2S and a 97TT and can comment on their daily driving ability as being excellent. Never had one issues in the 3 years 32k miles i put on my C2S. As far as the interior goes, given the option try to find one with the sport seats. you can always add a little stainless/CF touches here and there. The 993 seems to be holding up their value pretty well. IMO i have always loved the feedback from a 993 over a 996. Try to find a C2s or C4S as they will hold their value quite well in case ou sell down the road.

my 2 cents. i would not consider a regular 996 in favor of a 993. however i would explicitly exclude the 996gt3 and 996tt. If those are not an option then i would definitely go with the 993. i think others covered many of the reasons but to me it boils down to 2 things:
1. 993 has a handbuilt strong bulletproof motor; 996 has a mass production motor
2. 993 looks better! car has more curves and is a masterpiece.
my 2 cents.

I drove this car, & ALMOST got it, as it was the color I really wanted. The brakes were crap, the car idled bad, it shifted hard, didn't seam to have much power, & had a bad drive line vibration, maybe a bent wheel. It was sold as of last Sunday to the owners father ( it was on consignment).
My take on the 993/996 thing is that the 996 is faster, & lighter, but is really an expensive Boster, when you look at the front end, & interior, it's all Boxter. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's 2x the cost.
To me the 993 is one of the sexyest cars on the road, I'd take it over any other car out there. Yea, I just got mine so I'm still glowing from it!

your cabriolet sounds HOT.
the nice ones will sell in the mid-to-high 30's (and ore if they're super low mileage) while the C4S's will sell in the $50's. The C4S car have a very different feel than the C2's because of the AWD, of course. Driveline lag can be described as someonewho doesn't understand a HEAVY clutch and exactly where the powerband is in these cars. Some people don't like the heavier feel of those cars, the idle.... the heavy clutch... 993's are famous for it, especially Varioram motors, with the idle, since these cars have bigger valves and generally produce more power, or was that the motor sound package? If I were on a tight budget I would just buy a plain Carrera, probably a 1995 with around 100K miles on it. This way you get the nice body and the 2WD without having to put out much money. Then someone who's trying to go easy on the wallet can own something for $30K.

Post a pic of a car that is no longer there?
Yes, the car was inside, but as of 9/22 was outside, next to the Silver 993 turbo.
Yes, it did have new front pads.
Tell you what, call my Salesman, David Khazai, and as him what I thought of the car, I was there twice to look at it, & one time to drive it. If you need his cel phone, number PM me & I'll give it to you.
Funny how I post MY opinion about a car, that I was about to purchase, and all you can do is flame for me for how I felt about it? I ended up getting a 1997 993 with 38k on the clock for $2k more, & it is 100% better then that one, which is why I did NOT buy the yellow one.
