rwd or awd on turbos w 800hp
who's car was dat? thanks for the input.
For what purpose? It'd be damn near impossible to drive it at that power level on anything other than a roll-on, so what's it matter. With awd, you have some more traction but once you're over 500whp in any car it's a handful no matter what and most people, other than gifted very experienced racers, won't be able to handle it.
I'd say AWD...may keep you out ofthe hospital a little longer.

Even with all wheel drive, giving 800bhp some stick at 60mph could induce wheel spin, so to get all that power down in the safest, most efficient manner, would I think cause me to go to awd.
not quite the same car, but i tried running my gallardo in 2wd for a while but it was useless. for ****s and gigles, cool. you could always try it out, its only about 1.5 hours of work, but makes no sense.
Whoa, I've never heard of anyone doing 2wd convesrions on Gallardos. I would think it would make it better. How is it useless? Just a lot of wheelspin? Did it improve turn in? How about lessening push understeer taking long sweepers?

i am refering to it from a turboed 800hp point of view. normally aspirated, the car was great, handled better less pushing and was much more raw, but very unbalanced, it striped 180lbs off the front. ofcorse the suspension needs modification at that point which i was not willing to do. but major wheel spin in 1st and 2nd. thats with 550hp. with a turboed 800hp, forget it, too dangerous and hard to learn with a turbo. in most cases converting an awd to 2wd correctly, is not as simple as removing the front drivetrain, the 4wd car is designed to pull you out of corners and have control arms, suspension, etc designed for that. its okay for putting around, but thats it. just like the 996 conversions, to really do it right it requires more than just stripping off parts.

Jags, I was just debating this with KPG the other day, I did several searches & came up with that fact that most of the blown diff's come from the dyno's! HMMMMMM
I will be leaving the AWD till it gives, I already have installed the LSD!
ACE, you'll still be faster than I.

You welcome to come to my palce and see what 800+ rwhp will do... Like said above it is pretty useless, On my Chevelle you can go fast, 10.0 fast. It is great to show off doing an instantanious smoke show in the interstate...
I cant really start to bury the gas pedal untill I am in the top of 3rd and pulling 4th and 3rd takes me to 125 mph and 4th takes me to 155 mph for comparrisons sake. 5th gear will hook no problem and would take me to 205 to compare ratios.

800 hp is far from not driveable on the streets. I took my 785 rwhp corvette on a mountain run for a whole day, about 400 miles covered, with cliffs to my right or left, and had no worries, and it was wet, and I'm not crazy.
Here's a fun video showing what you can do with 800 on the street:

I almost miss that car.
