Talking Winter Tires ?

does anyone run winter tires on the stock turbo 18s? i'm trying to find the best winter tires possible that work with the stock 18s.. i'm not going to be driving it all winter, but it would be nice to get an extra month out of the car before i park it for winter, and bring it out a month sooner. That way i can drive the car 10 months of the year instead of 8 months of the year... i just can't get enough of it! plus i make a lot of power when its below 0 outside

Front 225/40-18 Rear 265/35-18
fit on the stock wheels?

because there are some blizzak LM25's in that size..

uh, it came with 295's on the rear from the factory. Are 265's too narrow to fit?

A 265 will not fit on the stock 11" wide rear. You need to buy a 10" wide wheel and a 265 tire. Nobody makes a 285 snow that fits properly.

Spacers would not do it. Need new wheels.

Our 10" wheel we offer with our snow packages comes with a 21mm H&R spacer/adapter if needed.

The 265's fit fine on the stock 11 wide 18" diameter rear tires - I've run this setup for five winters with no problems. Also about 3 years ago Excellence did a test on all the tires available at that time and Dunlop Winter Sports were considered the best - I've run them since with no issues, I also agree that tire technology has changed in 3 years so there may very well be a better tire now - I have however had great luck with the Dunlops on the stock rims. Just my 2 cents. T2

265 seems a little narrow for an 11" inch rim.. the widest a 265 should be able to go is 10.5"inch, and i think its really meant for a 10"inch rim.

There's a difference between what you have been lucky enough to get away with up until now and what you should do. If you want to take it upon yourself to dismiss the recommended rim range of the manufacturers as bogus go ahead. But don't recommend it to others here - the fitment is incorrect and unsafe. These tires are too low profile to fudge the rim range - even a half inch. Doing so will not offer the wheel any protection and will overstress the tire's shoulder construction resulting in a myriad of things from improper treadwear to overheating which will result in de-lamination of the tire plies.

And Yes, we HAVE seen it happen before on several occasions, on these cars, through our warranty dept.
