Any experience with modifying stock exhaust?

Hi,

I would like to get some feedback from people who have "opened up" their stock exhaust. Any noticeable power gain, effect on the sound level/quality etc. Also, I had my car for about 6 months and the exhaust seems to be getting louder/more robust with time. I am actually happy with that but I am not sure whether that is actually the case.

Yes. My dealer made some modifications to mine, I believe just removed some of the baffling and opened it up a bit, The sound is much improved, and power....I dunno, it sure sounds faster.

BCS996TT is infamous around these parts
Speak to Cobra06 on rennlist (David L)...he has a lot of experience with modified oem exhausts.

He built me one that produced roughly a 30AWHP gain (with a ecu mod)!

...fantastic performance and sound.

Wow... Thanks for the feedback guys. I have been thinking about modifying the stock exhaust for a while. It just seemed like a good idea to start with the stock system so that I would not encounter problems with the infamous "resonance" that a lot of guys are complaining about. And also since I am pretty content with the quality of the sound on the stock exhaust - just want a little bit more VOLUME.

Also, with the 100 cell cats found on most aftermarket systems, there seems to be an issue with the longevity and the ability to pass smog tests.

On a side note, I just got the Upsolute chip last week and I must say I am quite impressed with the results. I was feeling a little down since I test drove a GT2 at the local dealership a couple of weeks ago but the Upsolute chip put a smile back on my face. My tt is definitely not a GT2 but in terms of acceleration it sure feels pretty close!
