new member and a few questions

Just bought my first tt last weekend, silver 02tt with 3k miles. I had been looking around for months and finally found the right car although it is in the shop right now for some minor stuff. The car has a sick $6k sound system (check out tolmotoring.com) and as a 19 year old this made the car. I actually heard about this site from Lou or LSM. I considered buying his car but things didn't work out. Anyways let me know if you like the sound system. I know its dead weight but it came with the car.

I only want to spend $5k in upgrades, what would u suggest? I am interested in almost anything from performance to body work. I would spend more but the car might be totaled by the time the parts come. I currently have the escort 7500 and the warnings are really late. I had a V1 and it broke down and I was not impressed. Do you think the passport SRX is worth getting? Do any of you have it and what is your experience with it? It is selling on ebay for $700 and retail is $1500. Here are some pics; it was raining so i could not get good picks. Thanks for your time.

The car looks sweet dlm. As for mods I would suggest PSS9's and some new wheels, but that might take you over 5k. Also, you mentioned you were 19, do you go to school around Chicago? I am 19 as well and go to DePaul University.

If it was me, I'd get Some Techart or RUF rims (with no lip) right off. Love 'em.
Interior needs some colour IMHO. I'd go with some aluminum inserts all over.
About radar detectors, I've heard lots of rave about the V1 ... but I have no experience with it.

Thanks for the input so far. As for the mods, I am thinking an upsolute chip, used europipe stage 2 loud exhaust (if u know of one let me know), some carbon fiver or aluminum, and techart side skirts, strossek front lip spoiler. I am sure this will be more than $5k but these mods are a must.

jroy, that is all fiberglass and tolmotoring does all of that

vikdiddy, i live in Oakbrook and go to school at northwestern in evanston, i go down to depaul all the time to visit friends, i would love to see ur car sometime

zorro, u are right about the interior

doug h, no i did not buy tol's car but it looks exactly the same

Just a word on the radar detectors. I have the V1 hard wired to my TT and it also has built in passport SR-1 from the prev owner with front and rear detectors. All I have to say is V1 out performs passport everytime and anytime. The passport is a piece of crap as it warns right when you are about to pass a cop vs. the V1 typically gives at least an 1/8 to 1/4 mile warning. - TC
