What is it worth.

I am considering selling my '02 996tt w/ X50. Arctic Silver, Grey interior with aluminum instruments. 4,500 mis and perfect. I am thinking of buying a GT3. I have a friend who has expressed interest in my car. Can anyone tell me what you think it is worth? Also if my friend doesn't want it, where are the best places to advertise?
Lastly, if anyone has any comments for or against going from a 996tt to a GT3, I would welcome your comments. I love the turbo but enjoyed the GT3 more on the track. (My car is stock)
TIA,
Rob

IMHO - going from a TT to a GT-3 would be difficult. Maybe a GT-2? When you say track, if you mean big tracks, the GT-3 would feel slow. Two wheel drive is appealing, but I'd go to the GT-2 because the experience at the track - with all other things equal - would be better with the greater torque of the TT.

On the financial side, selling a TT would almost be a wash getting a GT-3.

Again, IMHO, I think you might be disappointed in the reduced performance.

i think the best thing for you to do is keep your current tt and put pss9's or the x73 row suspension on it w/ some sway bars (or really ANY upgraded susp!)....that would TOTALLY transform your car. it is amazing how soft and non-performance oriented the stock suspension is on these cars! get rid of that cadillac ride! that is always the first mod i would recomment...then brakes, then power mods!
good luck, have fun!

I agree....most guys that trade a TT for a GT3 miss their turbo a lot.

boston777, you are absolutely right! slightly more weight than the gt3, but properly set-up and alainged suspension on the tt with all of that extra power and comparing two drivers of equal ability, the tt should walk away from the gt3 (depending on the course, of course....or at least be as quick!). keep tt, put susp. on and have best of both worlds....horsepower AND great handling! ;-)

I have an 01 TT with EVO stage 3 , Pss9's , HandR sways from`Sharkster and I was considering buying a GT3 ..... I drove a GT3 the other day and you will miss the torque..... do a little suspension work.. Pss9's are pretty cheap compared to the transaction cost of buying a new car only to be disapointed.,...IMO............................... ....

I was actually in the process of selling my modded TT (see for sale section under Stage 4gt/w IBE)for a GT car or RUF RS and have been concerned about the same issue of missing the torque that I've now become accustomed. I've been in contact with Ruf to discuss the same thing and they provided similar input regarding their new RGT RS! I tend to agree that a modded TT can be a great performer on the track and certainly on the street. However, the track environment would reward a lighter weight car more and one can only remove so much weight from a TT before it turns into something that you would not want to drive regularly on the street. It seems that the GT2 is designed for this role but it appears that its advantages may only be realised on a road course and the lack of AWD might actually be a disadvantage on the street. So I'm beginning to think my previous plan of properly modding the TT was best, at least for me. I'm glad to hear that others concur and look forward to hearing about great mods on the TT.
