DGI Industries Exhaust installed
OK the exhaust is on my car - thank you John!
Background: I have a fabspeed 2nd gen exhaust that i replaced with this exhaust.
Here is my feedback on the exhaust:
Sound: perfect sound! Nice and quite at idle and when not on the gas. When on the gas it’s nice and loud but not obnoxious. NO DRONE whatsoever! It’s a perfect 10.
Power: The power build is slower than my previous exhaust (Fabspeed 2nd gen). my car is a stage II GIAC car and with the previous exhaust it would build boost up to 1.1 bar very quickly. This exhaust builds boost a bit slower stays at 1.0 bar for a while and then finally gets up to 1.1 bar. On the previous exhaust I never could see 1.0 bar as it just gets up to 1.1 bar very quickly. This could be because of the 70mm rather than the 60mm piping it also could be due to the 200cell cats vs. 100cell cats fabspeed uses. I also noticed the car runs ever so slightly warmer on the DGI exhaust (just a bit over the 180 mark and before it ran at the 180 mark).
Finish/Quality: Excellent quality & finish: Tips look very nice!
Fit: for the most part very very nice. A small nit is that the passenger side sits lower than the driver’s side by about ¾ inch.
Overall: I would highly recommend the DGI exhaust product. The fabspeed drone is a killer to me. I think I’d rather have a 100 cell cat on the DGI exhaust to let it flow a bit free'er.
Customer Support: I would highly recommend John. He is a very nice guy & takes care of his customers!
Hope that helps others as they evaluate this exhaust...
Alex from Sharkewerks installed the exhaust. He can add his thoughts as well. Thanks Alex!
Cheers,
Boris

I"ll second that, except for the power part...
My car is a frankenstein parts car, with UMW GT1 turbos, factory GT2 intercoolers, bailey DVs and Upsolute tuning. Mine still hit 1.2 with an occassional spike at 1.3bar and it still jumps up to that point quickly.
Otherwise I echo everything you said, Fly!
Best bang for the buck AND with the money I saved on this system, I paid for my Victor Equipmen wheels!

thanks guys for the feedback. I wonder if you guys having the bigger turbos are taking advantage of the 70mm tubing and in my case with the k16's it reacts differently.
As a side note, i really do like the exhaust. The other one has a strong head ache factor that makes the car not enjoyable on the freeway.

All in all for the money I think it's a nice part. The only qualms are, it needs to come with either a set of factory clamps (and some hardware for the holes) and perhaps on the passenger's side I'd say adjusting/redoing the jig a bit for the fitment so you don't get the can hanging down like that. Finally, I would have liked to have seen larger diameter cats. Obviously using 200 cell cats keeps the costs down (a good thing) but using such small diameter ones not only makes the area dense but surely restricts flow a little compared to some of the competitors. Then again it doesn't cost 5k either
Seeing as this looks like the company's firsdt undertaking I would give them a big pat on the back....James said it didn't have any resonance in 6th at 65mph so tha'ts a job well done.
Fly, I'm using the K16 w/K24 internals, so although I'm making over 600BHP, I'm still using the smaller housings just fine.
Sharkster, that's the same complaint I had in the initial instal. I'd have paid an additional $200-300 for new hardware.
Otherwise, it's a homerun. Best exhaust system I've had on the car (#3 now) and by far the best.

Sharky/Mike,
The exhaust was designed to replace the stock exhaust utilizing the OEM straps and test hole plugs, as a swap from the OEM exhaust. We have begun to enclose a longer bolt for the OEM strap, which makes threading easier, as the OEM bolt is a really tight fit to get started. Also, the easiest way to install the exhaust is to remove the rear bumper. For anyone that has never done it - it is very simple. Just a few screws and it pulls right off (about 5 minutes). This saves a great deal of aggravation and makes it so you can easily clamp the OEM straps at the rear with channel locks and squeeze the ends close together, as you thread the bolt. One started you just tighten the bolt and replace the bumper. Using this method, the installation should go nice and smooth. I did not plan on people that already have aftermarket exhausts switching to ours. I figured it would be mostly people with OEM exhausts upgrading to a less restrictive system and the swap parts would be readily available.
Having learned a few things in the past month, we have begun to include detailed instructions and the longer bolt with each kit. Our latest kits states "before you begin installation, be sure you have the OEM exhaust mounting straps and test hole plugs from your original OEM exhaust. These items are a direct swap and required for installation. If for any reason you do not have these parts available, do not begin the installation until you have secured all the proper parts required for the installation of your Speedtech Exhaust". Bumper removal instructions are provided, as well. Now that several of these exhausts have been sold to owners with aftermarket exhausts already on their cars - the question is "do we keep the price down in hopes that most people will have the OEM straps or provide new straps with each kit and raise the cost by that amount? I think we may begin offering the straps as an "option" for those that do not still have theirs, as this would preclude sending unnecessary straps all the time and keep the cost down for those that do not need the straps.
Anyhow - thanks for the feedback everyone. We will try to make this as "perfect" for everybody as we can...
